X-Tal - does size really matter :-P

Hi Friends :)

I ordered some Full Can X-Tals but they sent the little square ones :(

Since I waited 3 weeks for these I really want to get on with the Top Secret project and was wondering if there was a socket conveter you can get to use the smaller square type instead, or are they totally not compatible?

Why don't you bend the legs that way so they can fit in the socket?
Also you can use an custom drilled pcb that the small x-tal will be soldered and in the normal (big x-tal) position, some pins would be soldered (connected with the small x-tal's pins) :)

AFAIK they work the same with only difference the size :)
Keith or Rogerio can answer 100% for that.

Nagh, nor does 64mhz :(

Guess I got a duff one :shhh:

I'll try 60mhz though, normal square type should be easier to find (y)

I thought I had one, but turns out I have two 50's, a 64, 66, 72, etc...
