Hi , fellow Amibayers , i'm in trouble and i need your help.

Recently i bought a Macrosystem Retina Z2 for my A2000 rev 6.3.

The card is detected by the Early Startup Menu and is Working.
It has 1MB of Zip memory and can be expanded to 4MB.

I've installed the supplied disks (x4) and the Ram in the card is not detected. Using Retina's software , it states no Retina Hardware found. Using Sysinfo - no ram detected.

My system specs :

Amiga 2000 rev 6.3 - Kickstart 3.1 and Workbench 3.1
1MB Chip with 4mb fast using GVP '030 Combo.
Commodore A2091 with 2mb ram and 400mb Scsi Hd.
Retina Z2 1mb.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Am i doing something wrong , do i have to install something more?

As i don't have a manual for it , can someone help me?
Does the Zip memory has some kind of orientation? i've tested with other Zip mem that i have and it's the same - No memory.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've tested the card in anotehr A2000 rev 4.3 and the resilt is the same.

Regards,

Pedro

Hi Pedro,

I have a RETINA v1.1 - all ZIP sockets are full (2MB???) .
With SysInfo I have this:

  • Board address: $00EA0000
  • Board size: 128K
  • Board Type: ZORRO II
  • Product: 6
  • Manufacturer: MACROSYSTEMS
Try to install again the software.

For the ZIP mem: takes the card to have the EPROM in your side, the HD15 VGA connector must be at the opposite. In this case, you should be able to read the references on the chips. The notch should be directed toward the outer edge of the card ... as opposed to the ZORRO slot connector.

For more informations about ZIP installation: AMIGA HARDWARE DATABASE

  • 1, 2 or 4 MB DRAM, page mode, segmented, 70-80 ns
  • sixteen ZIP sockets
    • 1 MB setup: every second socket (1, 3, 5, 7...) is populated with a 256k×4 chip (414256)
    • 2 MB setup: every socket is populated by a 256k×4 chip (414256)
    • 4 MB setup: every second socket (1, 3, 5, 7...) is populated with a 1M×4 chip (414400)

Thanks LTAC , the info regarding the memory orientation is most welcome.

I'll re-install the latest software taken from Amiga.resources.

The same info appears in my SysInfo , just like yours , but where is the 1mb or 2mb of ram? They don't show up elsewhere.

Regards,

Pedro
