View Full Version : My A4000 Projects (Warning! HW pr0n! Naked A4000's)

17th February 2009, 16:43
Now it's only to find a new case for this baby, so far i figured that it should be a full tower.

17th February 2009, 17:02
Nice I just love A4000's

TC

17th February 2009, 17:50
Very NICE!!!!!!

Kiitos paljon Hessu !!!!!!

17th February 2009, 18:14
Few flat cables still needs to be replaced by rounded ones, so far i haven't found the ones having all the holes open. Catweasel MK2 S-class has all pins in use , while FastATA 4000 has one missing as it is a standard nowdays. I will post few more pics, when i get the other A4000D built up and OS installed.

I really want an A4000!!!

Tiny little detail, which was left out from previous pics :)

Next project

Side project

That's one tangled mess of cables! You definitely need some cable ties in there to get some good air flow...

Or those valcro wrap-arounds are better so they can be opened when needing to move cables.

21st February 2009, 13:18
I had to make DIY rounded floppy cables and finally found a pair of rounded IDE cables, having all holes open. Now it has enough space inside for airflowing, not pretty, i know, but there is no window in this tower, when it's closed 8)

That looks great. Nice job. It is amazing how different a system can look with some nice cables and cable management.

I hate opening up PCs for repair and seeing a complete mess of cables tangled around everything. I have to reach for the cable ties as soon as I can.

I'm just wondering how much unnecessary traffic these photos might cause? Should these be hosted another way? Since there will be photos coming, when there is something to show again. Edited topic, so it suits better ;)

Found one possible case replacement, Akasa case (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Akasa/Mirage62/3.html) looking good, what do you think?

Edit 2#
Above case is for A4000T motherboard ;) Which is looking for a new home :)

23rd February 2009, 18:34
It's fine uploading photos as attachments. They are not that big and it doesn't put much extra load on the server.

12th March 2009, 23:39
Ok, now the A4000T to AKASA case project.

14th March 2009, 19:45
And the project continues..

14th March 2009, 19:53
progress is getting further :)

Heh Hessu! - Very, very, very nice! - Not wanting to sound too much of a male chav, - "I am almost hard!!"

Top Stuff m8, Really! - Deserves a much better CPU Card though! :D

/....Kin misses his A4KT....

15th March 2009, 01:06
Nicely done, indeed! :D

Congrats, mate.

15th March 2009, 02:38
Had to use that good old 030 for bootup, there is MKII 060 inside now :)

Thanks, i'm happy to have it finally done :)

15th March 2009, 03:31
Awesome Stuff Hessu!

15th March 2009, 11:24
AlicePPC needs to see this. I know he was having troubles finding a suitable case for the A4KT I sold him some time ago!

Again Hessu, Lovely Conversion m8y & good to hear she has a decent CPU card in her now!

I hope she continues to give you many many years of hassle free service. :D

15th March 2009, 16:14
Nice... Did the new power source work :?:

16th March 2009, 01:31
Yes mate, like a dream, thank you ;)

16th March 2009, 08:16
wow, the AKASA tower hack re-housing is AWESOME! makes me want to get an A4000T mobo to do the same!

Kin Hell
16th March 2009, 12:44
LOL. I'll be arse-raped!

- I just found out AlicePPC gave up trying to case the A4KT mobo I sold him & bought a complete A4KT in an original case. So this makes the guts of Hessu's Rig my old A4KT mobo which I use to have in a Lian Li PC75 Case!

I miss owning her but am absolutely tickled she now has a Stunning new home!

17th March 2009, 01:30

I didn't want to spoil the fun from you, and decided to wait untill you figure that out ;)

Kin Hell
17th March 2009, 01:34
I hope you enjoy owning her Hessu. :D

Can you do some Real Big Res Digital Camera Pics? - I'm guessing the one you are using is on a Mobile Phone!

17th March 2009, 18:52
Yep, mobile sucks, i'll take better ones as soon as i have done some inside fixings, like rounding those cables :) Maybe at the weekend.

Very nice she is too, good one. :thumbsup2:

25th August 2009, 14:16
Ok, since someone upstairs didn't want me to buy a mediator, i had to try Matay board, which i happened to have and tried once without succes.
Now, given it a second try, after ordering a Zorro slot riser from Amigakit, i have made it finally to work ( :RTFM: )

Oh, yes the pictures (poor quality)(but i bet Zetr0 still likes it :))

25th August 2009, 14:32

Never mind Zetr0 mate...........Phwoooooor

That is an excellent achievement

Goes to show manuals are good for something after all, and the old proverb "If at first you don't succeed..........."

Well Done !!!!!!!

TC

25th August 2009, 20:49
NIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :D

Interesting setup, is that a power-fly as well as prometheus PCI, nice combo!

what graphics you plumb for Hesu?

25th August 2009, 22:47
Currently @1120*832*24 Maybe more with some finetuning, ethernet is working too.

Would have gone further, but as we know the limits with LCD panels
And interlaced picture is not the best to look at. So far i'm happy with the results and if someone has some tips for this one, it would be nice thing to share it :)

Next thing is, finding a suitable PC tower with plenty room inside :woot:

Nerd? Who? Me? Naaah...

26th August 2009, 06:35
All 3 amigas in working order in my corner. This is where i write most of my bla bla's, if i'm not on the road (then it's much smaller room and laptop)

26th August 2009, 10:01
Nice to see two of my ex-amigas(a4000 and a4000d in micronik case) in good use.

26th August 2009, 11:53
Yes, while the desktop one wasn't supposed to end to my hands (since it needed a bit soldering work), it might go soon to other collector, and this time with some goodies with in it :)

26th August 2009, 17:58
Nice corner you have there Hessu. :D ....Still can't believe my Ex-A4KT is lounging there. A very well travelled A4KT to say the least.
Just tickled pink, she has such a lovely new home.

Great stuff all round m8y,
