Here is a pic of the underside of the adapter. The 10 pin header is surface mount and all connections are on the topside so there are no traces on the underside. The pins of the VGA connector are flush with the board and a piece of plastic is secured to the underside to prevent shorts.

The cable is keyed to prevent plugging in the cable the wrong way round ( both ends)

Here is a pic showing how the board sits on the motherboard relative to the bottom shielding. It is possible to connect a VGA cable to the connector once the Amiga is boxed up but if you want to tighten the screws then you will have to do a little trimming

I will post specs, and if i have time, a little video later
i Will be shipping these Wednesday, All those who expressed interest will be offered first. Please do not send payment until i confirm availability.

Arguably theres very little in it these days, but I believe paypal may be charging for some currency conversions.. last thing some would want is to be paid in one currency only to loose out when they have to convert it.

Hi,

You would need a short double cable extender to connect the adapter to the mouse and joyport of the A4000. It will work fine. The extension cables can be bought on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.ca/AMIGA-ATARI-ST-JOYSTICK-EXTENSION-CABLE-PORT-SAVER-/320656474631?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item4aa89d8207

i made a small adapter board for the A1200 but i don't have an A4000 to get dimensions to make one.

I have a few questions regarding these, item 3 inparticular.

It looks as though there is a ps2 port on the board, will usb optical mice work when used with a usb to ps2 adapter without drivers?

Is there any chance you could make a board that will take snes joypads instead of playstation pads?

Finally just to make sure (it sounded possible when reading the pdf) but can the L1 and R1 functions be swapped around with L2 and R2 when in cd32 pad mode? (which is the natural way a pad is held imo and should be defaulted to this setup).

Finally where does $10.50 shipping cover to? Will England cost the same?

kipper2k
14th July 2011, 03:16
Hi,

- only ps2 and ps2/usb compatible mice will work (optical and ball). The newer usb only mice require device drivers. you can use a playstation mouse, and you can also use a playstation controller in mouse emulatiom mode

- protocol for snes joypads are different so no go on that question

- The code used in the psx controller has a lot of options available including key cloning, I've never used the key cloning feature so i can't answer for sure.

http://www.kipper2k.com/PSX-Adapter.pdf

$10.50 Canadian will cover shipping to England and pretty well the entire world (Pacific rim is an extra $1. I can put up to 2KG in a small packet which has a surface area smaller than 60cm (L + W + H).

@johnim, thanks.

I did know of that solution but I realy like to know if it is possible without them.

The adapter boards are preset to plug directly into an A600, a short adapter will allow it to plug into an A1200, all other consoles/computers will likely need an extension cable like Johnim mentioned in order to work. There were two many different consoles to cater for to make the board universal without increasing the cost

I now have some nylon standoffs that i will include with the adapter board orders that people can cut down to desired lengths to give the boards some support. (no extra charge). This order was lost in the Canadapost strike and just shown up, apologies to my earlier customers (I never advertised them as included, but i was intending to ship them with the boards).

Update for items availability, ** All items still available **

@ kipper2k

Do you have pictures of the nylon standoffs, I dont know what you mean with it.

kipper2k
24th July 2011, 14:33
I left a few holes so that people can use standoffs to keep the board sitting evenly in a A600/A1200 etc or for those that may want to create their own box/support system. The 2 standoffs i use here keep the board sitting evenly when plugged into an A600 (length is (0.625"). The circuit board itself is a 2 layer board (top and bottom) so all traces are visible, for those people that want to drill holes... be careful and don't cut any visible traces

Board received and working great!

Good to hear :). Just a quick note to all those who bought the 2 player version, when you have a PSX controller plugged into PSX port 1 and using it to play a game (the upper connector) flip the switch to disable the PS2 mouse (the Green LED will turn off) otherwise you will get possible conflicts. i have not had any issues with turning off the mouse to play a game and then turning it on again once i exit the game.

When the Amiga turns on, the mouse has a short delay in initialization so if you are attempting to enter the early startup menu on the later kickstarts by pressing both mouse buttons i normally wait 1 second after flipping the switch before pressing the mouse buttons.

If anyone is having troubles right clicking in workbench let me know. Also, when plugging in/removing the board from the computer gently rock it from side to side to put in/remove. Please don't tug on the PSX connectors, they are probably the weak link when it comes to receiving undue punishment.

If anyone is having troubles right clicking in workbench let me know.

2 player board received last week and tested today!

PSX controller works great, even simultaneous with amiga joystick on same port, and simultaneous with amiga or ps/2 mouse when on port 2.

However PS2 mouse right button does not register in workbench. It registers for early startup menu and for entering ClassicWB boot menus, but fails when loading wb or even when starting multiview (AG-Launch) from ClassicWB boot menu (does not enter WB but still fails). Haven't done any further troubleshooting, in case you know already where the problem is.

Middle button works (holds left button).

A1200, B1230IV, kick3.1, ClassicWB AdvSP v26.

Edit: Just tried on my a600 (Plain 68000, 2MB chip, ClassicWB GAAE), and here RMB works properly.

Hi !

I received my PSX adapter board, thank you one more time kipper2k !

It's really a great piece of hardware !

I tested it with my minimig, and it's work great in joystick mode with my wireless pads ! I'm really happy !

I have a trouble in mouse emulation. Buttons are correctly emulated as right and left click but I can't make any movement... Any idea ?

What is the little switch for on the board ?

Greg.

I had the explanation by yaqube at minimig.net (http://www.minimig.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=421):

Currently the Minimig core doesn't support mice connected to joystick ports.

Anyway there is a PS/2 port on it.
