Hi all :D

I'd got here for sale 10 new Samsung SFD-321B PC floppy drives, I just opened these up in order to do the modification for being used with the range of Amiga computers as standard 880k floppy drives and also with the Commodore 1581 3,5" drive for C64/128.

Condition of the item

As already said, they're new.
Perfect working order, indentical as the original drives.
On the Amiga, they can be used as DF0, DF1, DF2 and DF3 without change anything, just plug in and go.

Price & Shipping cost:

15 Euros each + P&P

Here's Poste Italiane's price list for shipping one drive as a letter (cheapest way):

Europe & Mediterranean Basin: 9 Euros
Africa, Asia and America: 14 Euros
Oceania: 20 Euros

If you need more than one drive or for other shipping methods, please contact me to know how much it will cost to you.

Payment:

PayPal as gift only.

Notes:

1) Since these drives are compatible with 8 different machines, you could need to do some esthetics adaptations before fitting them properly on your machine, e.g. removing the front frame and changing the button with the original one taken from the original broken drive.

2) HD disks can be used as 880k DD ones, I removed the HD internal switch so there aren't problem at all! (You'll receive it anyway, it's a part of the drive).

3) The "tank" Amiga mouse and the Workbench 2.1 set of disks aren't included.

4) I'm selling these also on Ebay.

Expressing interest in 2 of these drives pending shipping costs to the United Kingdom. A PM was sent several days ago to the OP asking for a shipping quote but seems to have been ignored.

@blankstare: sorry, I didn't realize I receive a PM, now I just replied to you :)

@BLTCON0: Yes there are some differences in the various revisions of the SFD-321B, the points to modify may be moved but they're always the same. :thumbsup:

Wow, what a GREAT idea to remove the HD switch!!! :D

I will try to desolder from one of my drives, if it works 100% OK I'll remove it from all the other drives I have for sale here so everyone is ready to go without use the tape on each disk (I'll send the switch anyway if you may need it as a replacement).

Thanks for the idea mate!! :)

@thread

I have split some of the posts of this thread and created a new thread in the AmiOracle section (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=18582) since they were focused on modding instructions and not in-keeping with a for sale thread

I hope that this helps =)

@Zetr0: Well done! Thanks :thumbsup:

@BLTCON0: I removed the HD switch from one of my drives and it works very well! Now I removed it also from those I have here for sale, so I'm going to update the main description. :)

Are they modified drives or do they work as Amiga drives "out of the box"?
Thanks

BLTCON0

These are modified "PC" drives so that they can work as direct replacements of "Amiga" double-density drives out of the box. That is:
DS0 drive ID
RDY on pin 34
CHNG on pin 02
treats all disks as double density

Of course "out of the box" should be considered from the electrical point of view described above, mechanically these are OK for towers but on other Amiga models adjustments to a varying extent may be necessary.

Exactly :thumbsup:

Anyway, in the A600 and A1200 simply remove the front frame and you're on :)
