Hi

I want to upgrade the really poxy Intel Extreme :roll: graphics on my Compaq D51s SFF desktop. Although the motherboard has an AGP slot, it needs a half height card with the corresponding bracket. Has anyone got one spare that could work, or possibly a decent PCI (not PCI-E) card, such as a Geforce FX5200 or Radeon 7000?

Thanks

Oooerrrr missus - it's a good job it's me and not SdG that's asking, isn't it?? :wooha: :oops:

That one's going into the quote contest!! :mrgreen:

It's a bog standard 4x AGP slot mate, except that the case is half the height, so the card has to be short with the shorter bracket. Think of a card with a low set VGA connector and an S-video connector above it and that's about the height - about 3 inches in total, from the locating tag to the top of the bracket.

That could be me out of the game then. I only have a Ge-Force2 GTS here. The only other low profile AGP I have is in my Canterwood Rig. It's an 8x nVidia 440MX. If you have a full height AGP of the same power or better, I can do a swapsies with an adjustment if necessary.

Ur Slot. - PMSL. :laugh: Not ember-assed in the slightest m8y. :D

I've got a GeForce4 440MX here that is very similar to that one, except mine doesn't have the composite out.

I think the answer to my quest lies in a PCI graphics card.

Thanks anyway Kin.

@Brataccas

I think the card would be ideal for Merlin, performance wise it's similar to a FX5200 and a hell of a lot better than the onboard graphics he's currently using....

Merlin, over to you my friend

TC :)

I did say if they were low profile, Merlin has to have first shout. :wink:

If there was chance of an ATI AGP HD 3850 Pro, I'd consider it over an nVidia card.

Hope your feeling better soon,

Cheers,

Kin
