View Full Version : Sold Apollo 1230 Turbo @51.8Mhz (MkI) with 16MB or 32MB or 48MB RAM

7th May 2012, 11:32
Owing to my recent acquisition of an Apollo 1240 (WooHoo!:woot:) I find this to be surplus to requirements. I know I'll probably regret selling it later, but I'm sure I can alwauys buy another later!

This is a cracking card, I was running it with 48MB (It has two RAM sockets) in my desktop A1200 and it was pushing 9.75 MIPS at first boot. I no longer need to keep the RAM for the Apollo so I can offer it with either 16, 32MB or 48MB of RAM, you choose ;)

Fully tested and working, fits perfectly in a 1200 desktop and I'm sure wwould be fine in a tower. I would keep this if I didn't have to repay the money I borrowed for the 1240

I have some pics of this which I'll add later, but in the meantime the card can be viewed using this link:

68030 @51.8 Mhz
16, 32 or 48 MB RAM can be supplied
2 x simm sockets
FPU @33MHz (not shown as 'PRESENT' in sysinfo and I don't have the tools to remove it, maybe a dirty contact as sysinfo shows 'NONE' next to FPU)
Small heatsink of CPU

117 + Postage, with 16MB (2x 8MB)
127 + Postage, with 32MB (2x 16MB)
137 + Postage, with 48MB (1x 32MB, 1 x 16MB)

Overseas please ask for postage rates.

Card will be properly packed with anti-static bag and lots of material to prevent damage in transit.

Prices are firm, so no offers please.

@Thread for FPU to show as working in Sysinfo you need to be using it, i.e a program that uses FPU needs to be running ;)

In normal showconfig it should report if FPU is operational.

@Fitzsteve - Thanks for the info - I have just looked at the photos on my camera (can't post yet as on my netbook, attaching my camera would kill it :o) and it states next to FPU 'NONE', so think it may either be a faulty FPU of the passage of time/dust/something else has fouled up a contact. I'll update the original post to reflect this.

If I had the right tool I'd haul it out and clean it, but I don't think a screwdriver is a good idea

Now on a proper computer, so pics added - results are based on 16MB RAM!

That counts only for the MMU. ;)

@ austinsom

Your accelerator is running at 50Mhz, but your FPU is 33Mhz. I don't want to worry you, but it's likely that your FPU is fried due to overheating. (I hope I'm wrong though)

@ MC680X0 - Thanks for that, I guess that is entirely possible. Seems a bit pointless to add a PLCC carrier as I seem to remeber a 68882 only goes to 40Mhz whereas the PGA FPU went to 50Mhz!

@ Thread - As I have now received my Apollo and found the 32MB module I have won't fit, I can now offer the 1230 with 48MB RAM, I'll post a SYSINFO shot later with the 48MB running. Prices will be updated!

Could a mod also *or 48MB to the end of the thread title please! Thank you

Just to help a bit: the 68882 FPU may just have a dodgy socket contact. Totally normal for PLCC sockets. :banghead:

Good luck with your sale.

I would be very interested in buying it with 16mb, however I need to see if anyone is interested in the PC Engine I am selling :)

@ rkauer - thanks for the info, thought this might be the case. I am trying to source a new fpu which I will include if I can find one!
