Hey all, hopefully someone can help with this as I think I've reached a dead end.

I have installed Workbench 3.0 on my A4000, now I need to upgrade to 3.9 from CD. Any ideas of how to get the CD to be recognised as I don't have IDEFix on a floppy anywhere it seems... :picard

IDEFix is here:
http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/IDEfix97

To install onto your Amiga, format a floppy disk onto the Amiga in 720Kb PC format. For that, you have at first to launch PC0 which is under Storage/DOSDrivers/

Download IDEFix97 with a PC (Linux or Windows) or your Amiga 1200 with Mediator if you have an Ethernet board, and save it onto the floppy Disk. And then, you'll have just to install onto your Amiga.

That's all!

PC has no floppy drive (I've not used a floppy disk on Windows for years!).

Amiga has no network access...

Dilemma! :blink::double

Hummm... In fast, not really cool!:(
You don't have anybody around you who has a PC with floppy drive?!

if its a ide harddrive you can mount it in winuae, then move the idefix install to the drive direct.

then reconect the drive to the amiga unpack the files and install.

you can copy it to a compact flash if you have an adapter for one of your 1200's, or across network/null modem cable.

If you have a CF adapter connected to your miggy, then it's pretty simple and i was intending to write a mini guide on the matter, so here it goes:

1) make an ISO of the 3.9 and copy this file over to your CF
2)Change your CF card name to "CF" (without the brackets)
3) download the following files (exactly as they are in the ZIP file),

https://www.dropbox.com/s/udd3jlmaylyvvfj/3.9 CF Boot.zip

and unzip them to the CF that is already loaded with the 3.9 ISO

4) boot your miggy and as soon as you have access to your CF, click the "start" file and let the installation procedure drive you till the end as if you were using an AmigaOS 3.9 cdrom.

You can do it also with the two Boing Bags, following exactly the same steps.
I have uploaded two quickly made videos on Youtube, even though i intend to make a couple more with better quality :

Thanks for all the help, guys.

I managed to find the floppy that went with my Buddha device and this has CD drivers on it! (y)

Why would you need IDEFix for an A4000? Just install a CD filesystem and the CD should appear on your desktop!

Right, but not everybody is keen on using WinUAE :). Not to mention that not everybody has/uses a PC at home, cause Mac (E-UAE) comes really not so handy.
