Hello,

this item is still for sale! By the way: i have one of this on my A1200, and dont need anymore a scandoubler. Workbench and other programs, with the help of the prefs program 'IControl', 'Moned' and 'Monsync', are redirect to the VGA output, demos and games are opened via the CVideo/SVideo output, all on the same monitor.

Hello,

new price: 28 Eur + postage. You will receive a little handbook (one sheet ) how to manage this device.
I wish to point on that: on a ECS/AGA Amiga you dont need anymore a scandoubler.

Are these devices PAL only? or are they switchable?
also, what would the shipping charge be to Toronto, Canada :)
cheers :)

vibros
7th October 2013, 15:55
Hello,

this device is PAL. It can be NTSC, with the same design but some components (filters and oscillator) need to be changed with other parts, similar but with different values. There is no problem about the oscillator, why the value for the NTSC carrier of the color is well know, the values of some filters need to be tested and i dont have any NTSC tv.

About the cost of the postage, i will sent soon a PM.

Hello, can this device output a flickerfree hi res mode image?

vibros
14th November 2013, 05:12
Hello,

this device is not a scandoubler or flickerfixer. It is a RGB converter to Composite video and S-Video. But it has a VGA output, if your Amiga can VGA video modi (that mean ECS and AGA Amiga), you can use it on your multiscan monitor. In comparison to the VGA adapter by Commodore, is the picture of this device more brilliant

This device is robust and reliable.

Hello,

i have made three of this devices.
I wish to point on this question: this device work without any problem on a modern television (LCD or plasma) why there is not the issue of the 60Hz of the vertical frequencies that the pictures need to have.
I have two television with different target price, one bought on 2011 and the other on 2006. This device work 100% on this LCD monitors, that have SCART, CVideo and VGA input.
On the Amiga side, i use the PAL and Multiscan monitor, that mean CVideo and VGA output.

Hi,
just to understand: if I use this device on my A1200, I can run apps which require 15kHz scan frequency even if my monitor supports a minimum of 30kHz? Do I need more than one cable? It's not clear what all those ports are

vibros
9th December 2013, 12:51
Hello,

the replie is no. You need a scandoubler. This device is not a scandoubler, it is the union of a CVideo/SVideo (that are 15KHz) output with a VGA adapter like the device built by commodore (part. n. 390682), with some improvements.

Hello,

i have received a negative response about the S-Video output of this device.
If the quality of the picture is not perfect (with flaws of colors), your television dont recognize properly an S-Video input signal.
The signal outputted by this device is correct. It need to be regulated only on the CVideo output.
I have made today new pictures, that show the SVideo properly recognized, an example of SVideo dont right recognized (B/W picture, that mean only the luminance is recognized), the CVideo output with flaws of colors (that is normal for this type of signal) and the multiscan monitor of the workbench, through the VGA output.
This device need a Television (old or new is egual), and not a VGA LCD monitor, that need a 60Hz picture.
If the television has two SCART input, one recognize the SVideo input properly (with an adapter), a television with one SCART input dont work correctly with an SVideo adapter.
There is no problem with a device with a true SVideo input.

As promised some pictures, made with a Canon IXUS.
The vertical stripes are only visible on the pictures.
I've connected Stefano's video adapter via S-Video cable to a several years old Samsung LW15M2 LCD-TV with Scart (RGB), AV video, S-Video and VGA-Input.
I don't use VGA, as it's frequence is from 30 - 69 kHz.

Hi Stefano, how much for 1 unit shipped to Melbourne, Australia?

vibros
25th March 2014, 18:04
Hello,

postage to Brasil is about 4.5 Eur or 8 Eur with tracking. Postage to Australia is about 6 Eur or 9 Eur with tracking.
I have tested this device with A500, A600, A1200 and A4000D. I think, it work on the A4000T. You can use the VGA output of this device if you chose on the workbench a 30-31 KHz monitor. It is not a scandoubler, so the picture on the VGA output is stable (no flicker).
I use this device with a modern television: the CVideo output and the VGA output are atteched to the monitor, then i have all what i need on a single monitor (i have an A1200).

For sure i have one unit for sale; i need to see if i have two of this device.

Hello,

i have upgraded the design of this device, with small improvements, and added a resistor to change, if needed, from PAL to NTSC. This device work very well: there is some photos snapped on this days, with the A1200 (but this device work with all the Amiga models) attached to a television with CVideo/VGA input and on other TV with SVideo input.
I use it daily and i am very happy.
If someone is able to print a plastic case for this device (3-4 pcs.) at a reasonable price, please PM to me.

The price is the same: 26 Eur + postage and Paypal fee.

Hello,

AmigaManiac from Australia, if i see right, as made what you ask. I have only Amiga, and i can made test only on this computer. But, if you wish to know something about this device, it is a little bit more of a test board. The funny work was to adapt the project to a single side PCB, and print it, with enough quality, at home. The hard part to made this device was to draw a good design and to find a right filtering solution for some colors lines (to filter with basic components, like capacitors, resistors and inductors, help to stay low with the final price of this device).

That's all!

If you wish to buy this project, contact me!

Hello,

the part in picture is ready and partially tested on my A3000D, under the CVideo output. If LordAga is still interested, please, read carefully all my posts to understand the functionality and the limits of this device.
Another part is for sale, but only one and not more, because now i can't much things.

To all the people that has bought this part, if under overscanned screens, through the cvideo output, you see big flaws of colors (stripes of colors to be precious), it is the part black, labelled 5R6 to be changed: it is an inductor, of the value uH5.6, it is corret, but not the package. If you can, buy a same part with a different bulb.
Another things, just to be precious, the adapter from Commodore, RGB to VGA, has not buffers on the RGB signals and, if used on an Amiga, the picture is slight off of brightness. It is not a faulty nor a poor mistake! This part is only for the A4000D that has a very strong RGB signals and do not need nothing more (in other words, this signals are very bright and the adapter from Commodore fit perfect, but only on the A4000D!).

Hello,

I believe I understand. I intend to use the S-Video output for games, and VGA for Workbench.
So we have an agreement, payment underway.

vibros
4th May 2016, 21:44
Hello,

yes, all the three output ( VGA, s-video and cvideo) are active, but this is not a scandoubler! VGA output work only if the screen of the Amiga as horizontal freq of at least 30-31khz (multiscan + vgaonly, on workbench); s-video and cvideo work with a freq of 15khz on PAL. The attached monitor need to follow this rules.
About s-video, pay attention that the tv has a true s-video input and not an internal adapter s-video-to-cvideo, otherwise, in this last case, you will see a poor picture with flaws of colors around the borders. A true s-video decoder will give a very good result!

Best regards
Stefano

I will use it on a Dell 2408 monitor. It has native composite and s-video inputs. Right now it works fine with (Amiga) composite for games, and VGA (over Amiga RGB) for Workbench (DblNTSC). I want a bit better picture for games, so I hope s-video will do just that :)
