I've finally finished my painting... :p

Here is my A1200 in all its black glory. :)

Too bad, that "flash" damages the very good result. :(

Just to say that on the "inside" it painted only once, just to erase the beige color. Outside many times...

The next step is to make a new badge with black background and white letters, as well as find a 2 blue LEDs to replace the orange ones. Anyone knows where I can find those?

Thanks.

Good work :)
The keys are painted too, or they are Keys taken from CDTV's Keyboard?

Thanks for your kind words.

Those are CDTV keys of course. :p

For the blue LEDs: you can find two rectangular LEDs and use them instead the original one, but they are shorter than the original double one.

You'll need to fill the gap between they with a black "thing" (black fish tank sealant, for example).

That's a very nice pro looking effort. :)

So many paint jobs can end up looking a bit shabby.

I am very imrpessed with the Paint Job, black is the hardest to DO RIGHT and it translates poorly on the camera.

this I think is one of the best black paint jobs I have seen!

Well done!!!!

Looks awesome. Agree that you should do an alternate badge though, doesn't look right with the repainted case!

Phantom, quite simply that's the best pain job i've seen on any plastic, EVER. Seen other 1200's close but not this good. Congrats, and you have made someone rather green.

Awesome! What paint did you use? Does it come off especially on the lower side of the computer where you rest your palms?

Nice paint job, looks like you had some patience to do it properly

Did you use car paint?

They also sell keyboard stickers if in need to paint the key's:

You couldn't show a picture of the can itself and say where you got it from could you? :)

Sure I will do, but it's a greek product. I'm sure that you will find a similar to your country though.:)

i use standard car rattle cans (ok Ferrari paint but sshhh) go for a satin black rather than matt or gloss or the best results

Do they insert a "Pasok" element into non-Greek products though?

Mine was not satin, it was matt, but especially for bumpers. So it has something else inside. :)

LOL... :-D

Heh eh Phantom! :D

RE: the paint used for bumpers, as most bumpers are plastique thesedays, I'd be guessing the bumper paint has a certain amount of rubbery-ness to it allowing for thermal expansion. (Plastic is huge when retaining flexibility rather than rigid-ness)

Merlin might know more specific reasons having more of a Chemistry/Alchemy background than most. ;)

Anyway, I know your from Greece but would be interesting if there's something at-least like it in the UK. :)

Satin?
Harnessed from the planet Saturn's gasses. :ninja:

Also the fabric ladies use to attempt to be se. . . Actually nevermind.

Locally we have a brand called "MOTIP" also very good in painting plastics, but use the line for painting cars not the ones for other stuff, they are a couple eu cheaper but they *****, bad covering, bad dry, dripping faster etc.. But the car line is fine paint and cheap, about 7 eu for one can.

The only complaints about the car paints, was to blaim me, overlooking glue rests, loosing a hair, a fly passing by etc.. And also not enough patience somethimes..

Another suggestion to you is using a small HD or power activity led and use the remaining space for a PCMCIA activity LED!

Dead easy, using the instructions our friend Doobrey put on his site (http://www.doobreynet.co.uk/extraled.html):

This is the black stuff they use on bumpers, it's a plastic spray.

I've just got done painting mine with that plastic spray in the photo above and it's come up well pucker. It's got a lovely matt finish but i'm not sure if I should clear lacquer it as well. Any ideas?

Wow, thats an incredible paint job! Well done! :)

I was going to paint my A1200 black and add CDTV keys, but I decided against it (I bought a new keyboard and the new keys made it suddenly look brill!). I had found a plastic spray paint that is apparently very good from USA called Krylon Fusion if any of you guys are after a good plastic paint.

http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/

There are many different colours you can choose, I was going to use Satin Black.
