Hello,

I'm preparing to start production of tower cases for A1200. This will be one production batch of 25 - 50 pcs (25 is more likely).

I'd like to know Your preferences about that kind of case, to make project suitable for wide spread of Amiga users.

I have two options for now:

1. Make case with ATX - AT adapter + proper cable for standard Amiga PSU connector on the A1200 motherboard;

2. Make case with Mediator 1200TX inside - Amiga will be powered by AT/ATX connector on Mediator.

First one will be cheaper (about 140€ excl. VAT), suitable also for BPPC + BVision setups. Still suitable for Mediator (but price of Mediator will be regular).

Second one would be with Mediator 1200TX (or LT4) inside, ready for PCI cards. If I buy a bigger batch of Mediators, the price will be better.

Set would consists of:

1.
Tower Case;
ATX-AT converter + proper cable for A1200 PSU connector;
Keyboard adapter;
Distances and bolts;
No PSU;

or

2.
Tower Case;
Mediator 1200TX;
Keyboard adapter;
Distances and bolts;
No PSU;

Fast calculation:
First option w/o Mediator - end user price without VAT - about 220€
Second option with Mediator - end user price without VAT -about 360€

Thanks for all opinion (also about price).

I would be interested in a tower with mediator but I suspect an '030 accelerator won't cut it when used with PCI cards?

an 030 card does work,well,if its a blizzard.

Well I own an ACA. Will that work? (and be fast enough to be actually useful :) )

i dont know,never tried an aca card on a mediator.

a blizzard works for rtg, sound and any other card fine.

I tried to get a Mediator setup running with an ACA1230 but it wouldn't work, I don't if it was a timing issue, it wasn't my A1200.

The 1231/32 might be ok, someone whose tried will need to say. The OP sells both items so maybe he can test?

Id be interested in the first case. I know postage would be a killer, but Id be up for it regardless. I am very unlikely to go further than my A1200 with just the BPPC card and BV card, so no Mediator for me!

with dimensions of the cases.Dimensions :

Width: apx. 20 cm
Height: apx. 44 cm
Depth: apx. 50 cm

I'll post some pics after we prepare first prototype. Now I have to choose the right path.

Is it going be compatible with Micronik Z2 and Z3 busboards?

No, as I do not have such devices. It will be Mediator / Grex compatibile.

if the back of the tower's backplates line up with mediator and grex boards and if the case is deep enough it should accept z2 and z3 busboards,as the backplate's are in the same place.

IMHO, the Mediator (still being sold) accepts the Radeon 92xx graphics cards which being newer and more available than the Bvision give more memory and reasonable faster performance. Which puts my vote for a type 2 case. I follow the Field-of-Dreams approach, "If you build it [they] will come."

Sorry, no plans for A3000 or A4000 tower cases for now. Perhaps in the future.

This will be something different than infinitive (plastic) tower case. I'm pretty sure that there will be no more than 20 cases and as for now it will be without Mediator.

I'll post some pics when I have first reworked tower at my place. I just can say it will be black with front door :)

Was this a ACA1230/56 steve? this is the second time I heard mediator troubles with ACA cards.

IIRC it was ACA1230/28

@Thread, I'm considering another 1200 Tower & Mediator, I might be interested pending what design you come up with and quaility of the finish.

Thank You for presenting interest :) Unfortunatelly I have very little time to spend on this project - I'm independent ISP and now I'm working basicly outside on my network infrastructure. Man who was assigned to lead this project is also very busy with other matters than Amiga hobby. We hope that we will have much more time in autumn and winter months (this year of course).

I have secured 20 pcs of very nice tower case that already was successfully adapted to A1200 and we are gonna to do the same.

I'll make some picture later this week that will show what type of case is that.

Would be interested in option 2, however I need a case that can also use the additional Mediator riser kit. Would also like to see what the case would look like, hopefully not beige :-)

I'd be very interested in either option but probably the Mediator equipped one more. If not I'd just have to end up buying a Mediator as well :)
