Having just got a c64 locally, I am after a couple of specific tape games for it.

Super Blitz (for the wife)
Pitstop 2
Beach Head
Depth Charge
Hypersports
Track and Field

Cheers!
Yesterday was the first time I had been near a C64 in probably more than a quarter of a century, so am still working out what I need etc.
I figure one of those SD2IEC adapters but they are expensive, given I get limited time to play on the miggy as it is, and probably a Video cable. Would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks
C.

SD2IEC is the cheapest option if your looking at a SD solution. Non RF cable is must as well either SVideo, Scart or Composite will do the job.

What came with it? Tape, Disk Drive etc etc ?

You can easily transfer .d64 disk images back to 5.25 floppies using the XM-1541 cable.

If you have no disk drive then get a S2DIEC as in the long run this will be the cheapest option.

Ask away if you want any more info

It was this : https://www.amibay.com/showthread.p...something-new!&p=595184&viewfull=1#post595184

and came with a tape player that does appear to work. I got it to work using the RF lead, but OK - could go with a Video to RCA/SCART lead. I was looking at the SD2IEC thing but its a hard month and I am still unsure how much use I will get. If I invest much in the C64 then perhaps I will have to move on my 2nd Miggy (as per my signature) which I dont want to do.

The C64 would probably only be used for a small number of specific games, so maybe its better to keep an eye out for a local disk drive if one comes up, and keep retro.
Dunno.

C2N's when I pick them up usually need the heads cleaning and azuimuth re-alignment. Heads I usually clean with a little drop of IPA and a cotton wool bud and re-align the tape deck with a program called load master :)

Where is Kent are you ? I can help you out if you like (y)

I was expecting issues with the tape player but it does seem to work out of the box - tried bomb jack, blockbusters, and a couple of others and all worked.
I don't really have anywhere in the house I can leave it set up - the only space in the home office is taken up with my a1200.
I could however put it in my office in the summerhouse - I have the room out there, but it would need to share a PC monitor with the PC that is there as well.
Do you reckon http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-BNC-...ion_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item43c5a4a222 plus http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250925966106?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 would allow me to do that?
Cheers

EDIT - Forgot to say, I am in Gravesend, so not too far away!

Not wanting to go too far off topic, but...
Just saw that part of your post. Tread carefully with this as I have not yet found a decent solution to running any of my C64s on a PC VGA monitor. I have tried the one's that you have found but they produce a black and white picture on the monitor, see my post here: https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?57245-Commodore-64-on-a-VGA-monitor

I currently have a PCI capture card in my PC which accepts the C64 S-Video as input which is not ideal but it works for now.

If you do manage to get a good C64 image on your PC please let us know which converter you use!

Regards

Yeah - my experiences with the other devices have caused me concerns but I did read somewhere of someone who did get it to work - perhaps its just finding the right converter.

EDIT: Having looked at those converters and the lottery that they appear to be, maybe I am better just going down to the British heart Foundation in Gravesend and picking up a CRT!

Wow that was fast! However much I lose faith in royal mail they sometimes really pull it out the bag! I only posted it around 4PM the previous day!

With regards to playing .tap files I made a video of how I do it using my mobile phone and a cassette adaptor:
