The battery corroded inside and made a whole mess in it.

I opened it up and cleaned it but I can't get it working. I've tried connecting a battery direct to the wires or else direct to the resistor thingy and then to the other wire.

At least ROB is alive and happy but he misses his spinner.

Any ideas will be appreciated

I could take mine apart and measure resistance of the motor, then you can compare the 2.. can you still run the motor it self?
Did you bypass the big green resistor or coil? testing the motor?

Just going on my learnings of other toys from that era that use those sorts of motors, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if the motor has become gummed up with solidified grease.

Apparently, in such cases, you can strip the motor down, clean that gunk out, and replace it with (if memory serves) mineral oil, which should do the same job but without gunking up in the future.
