long shot i know but does anyone have a Dell SX dvd drive kicking around?

I have an old dvd(rw) drive from a dell, but no clue that it is what you wan't.

That looks identical to the latitude C-series modular bay drives, if it is there should be tons of them about.

It looks the same in the picture, but i looked about and sellers seem to be specifying for different models, maybe the connector on the back is different.??

do you actually have a drive and want to replace it?

if so, you may be better just swapping the drive out of the casing for another.

no, no drive to replace, it has no optical drive, which is a bit poo methinks

it turns out the same dvd drives are in the following

Compatible Laptop Models:

Latitude CP CPi CPi-A, CPi-D, Cpx, Cpt, Cpi-R, C600, C610, C640, C800, C810, C510, C840, C400, M40 and M50
Compatible desktop models:
Optiplex SX260 and SX270

i have the SX260 and can tell you that you i bought one of the old dell laptop quickswap drive bays with cdrom in and took it apart and added a slim dvd writer and it fits and works.
I have a couple of the plugin drive bays if you're interested...just add own slim dvd drive.
