I was playing a little with the "new" A3000 and I knew I needed to replace the floppy drive, since "the seller blew some dust in it."

It appeared after cleaning the original drive 3 x times it would be quicker to put a pc floppy in and mod it (with this link i have 6 of thesedrives)

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43265

Has anybody used it for two drives? It is just solder the pins to DS1 or not? I am getting a little greedy and would like a second drive in..

Oh the case closes perfectly this time... I am getting a little practice.. :) But it would be a shame to put a second floppy in it and blow some IO chip because of the pc drive not doing it's job..

Oh the case will be in retrobright medidation in a couple of minutes..

You have the original Amiga floppy cable with the little twist (it is different from the twisted cable used in PC), then yes, just set the second unit to respond to DS1 signals and all is done.

Maybe you need to change a jumper on the motherboard, but I'm unsure. My first A3000 still is over the desk, doing nothing until I can set correctly the HD.

That's alway's a shame "doing nothing":whistle: Why can't you set the hd?

I' heat up the soldering iron tomorrow and look for some more matching A3000 plastic to glue on (yes that part is needed I am afraid:whistle:)

I removed the twist out of the cable and use the dh0 unit (pc modded flop) and then the dh1 original A1200 flop with jumpers set.

Whatever I try, with two unitis there is no disk detected any longer in the machine.

Each unit works seperately..

Google is not my friend today..

Oops found an ancient document, going back to the unit, some strange thing to config

There is a jumper on the motherboard to tell the A3000 that there are two disks drives. The positions are actually helpfully labelled: "DF1" and "NODF1" on my motherboard. :)

Andy you are right, will need to dig deeper:

I don't understand this, to add to my confusion I've found J351, it looks like this

.
. jumper
. Jumper

I don't understand why there are four pins in this:

Am I stupid or missing some point?

So what I don't get is this:

jumper Pins -01 -02 -03 -04 Function

What there are only 3 pins, or should I learn to think more abstract and "imagine" that the middle pin is in fact two pins, 2-3.

That would take me :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer: :beer::beer:

That's impossible m8. Your Sig says "One beer does not exist!

Kin

That exactly means what it say's drink one have a lot exactly..:) The "one" does not exist, drink one and have a lot:LOL:

Same as with any other substance...:D well I am not going for the alcohol, it's tuesday hard work day next day... I'll have a go at the second flop next day..

Andy you are right, will need to dig deeper:

I don't understand this, to add to my confusion I've found J351, it looks like this

.
. jumper

All you have to do is move the jumper to close the other two pins:

. jumper
. jumper
.

Are there actually four pins on your A3000 motherboard? Mine only has three.

Ok, should test more then, I already moved the jumper and followed the manual 2 modded pc flops in both set to dh0 (according the A3000 linky) will test this evening with one Amiga unit in...

txs

so the middle jumper counts for two then? I've got only 3 pins not 4 that's why I don't understand...

The jumper does not help, the manual clearly states (the linky) both units on DF0. It looks even with a real amiga flop in there is no signal when a disk is in.

The only difference with the jumper changed is that the amiga asks for DF1:?? (like there is something wrong with a flop)
