Payment:

When your PCBs are ready to be shipped, I send a PM to ask for your postal address and to give you the total amount and my Paypal address.

As for the first batch, I don't make any profit with the production of PCBs. My goal is to obtain PCBs for a good price for the Amiga community and of course for me!

I DON'T ASK FOR PAYMENT BEFORE THAT YOUR ORDER IS READY TO BE SHIPPED.

Payment by Paypal with Gift option or buyers pay the fees.

Looking on the Picasso II PCB, it seems that there is a new version (ver 3.3 including ratte switch). It's on Georg's internet page.
If you'll make a batch with the 3,3 rev, i could be interested. Do you know +- the price per unit for those boards ?

Tuxbar81
4th November 2014, 14:55
Yes, I know. I have all versions, and I have generated the Gerber files for all revisions.
For the first batch, I have produced the 3.2 rev since we had already bought the ICs (GALs and Xilinx).
For this new batch I have planed to produced the 3.3 rev.:)

The price will depend on the number of PCB ordered.

If I don't make mistake, The difference beetwen 3.2 and 3.3 rev is the GALs which are replaced with an XC IC.

For information, onto the DHL website, the state of the parcel of the first batch is: "Departed Facility in HONG KONG"
It is in DHL agency since some days... It's long. I hope to have them in the begining of the week...

Little question (might be answered already in a previous thread) : how do we get the components after that ? Is there lists or kits available somewhere ?

Rakeim132
9th November 2014, 08:09
Is the 32 MB card interesting for the GBA 1000 and compatible with all these goodies ?

And by the way, are all of these cards compatible together to go in ONE single machine ?

Tuxbar81
9th November 2014, 10:47
The ICs can be found near UTSource for example.
The classic components (Resistors, capacitors, etc) can be found near classic electronic sellers.

No, the 32Mb card is not interesting for the GBA1000. It's now an obsolete expansion. The eagle files are not available for this board.
And the 68060 accelerator board gives 64 ar 128Mb depending of RAM chip used.

The 060 board, the Mini-Thylacine & the Picasso Graphic board can be can be used onto a one single GBA1000.
To use the Picasso board, the 060 is absolutely necessary.

This sounds really awesome.. I want to be clear though.. These boards are for... A Zorro II slot or does the GBA1000 68060 go into the processor slot on a A2000? If the answer to that is "Yes" then please put me down for all three as well.

Sorry, but the 060 accelerator board is plugged into the 68030's socket of the GBA1000.

The Picasso board is a Zorro II board, but you should be more interested with this version:

Hello Tuxbar. Apologies but I will withdraw my interest for the 060 card PCB.

Still into the Thylacine and the Picasso (although a bit confused by the discussions about the revision for that last one. I trust you'll go for the right and most advanced design for this one).

Hello Rakeim,

The last actual revision of the Picasso board is the rev33. Except if a new version is released, this is this one which will be produced.
A little precision: the Picasso board needs more memory than the quantity which is present onto the GBA1000. This is why the 060 board is needed.
Let me know how you want to do!

You are right. The Picasso board is plugged into the Zorro II connector, the Thylacine is plugged into the front connector, and the 060 accelerator onto the 68030 socket.

The problem is that the cost of one PCB depends directly on the number of PCB of the batch.
To be clear, I have made the table below where you'll see price of each board for batchs of 20 pcs, 10 pcs and 5 pcs.

Is it the price for Blue PCBs ?
We have 6 Thylacine and 6 Picasso in blue..... Hese is not in the list in post#1 as he wants them only if in blue.
For now, if we order a batch of blue from 6 each (Thylacine and picasso), we are in the range of the 15,015 and 19,522 each board. And we do not affect the price for the other as there will be always the minimum of 10 but not 20Pcs even if Rakeim132 and I order our boards in green.

I do not know for hese and Rakeim132 but for me at that price, it's still ok. And if I have to add few Euro more for the color, I do not care....

Tuxbar81
22nd January 2015, 15:46
I have forgotten... now, there is no extra cost for the PCB color.
We can't have a batch of 6pcs. Only batchs of 5, 10 or 20 pcs.

Duuudes, are you sure you're not making this too complicated? If there is no extra cost, I'm sure most of us don't care about the color too much (at least for me the ideal would be to get this all inside some enclosure one day)? And if we all went blue, we're not that far from 20 pcs on some of these...

If someone REALLY wants green PCB's then I stand corrected, but in the meanwhile you can put me in the "whatever colour" column. :)

I think it's the same (K4S561632) that everyone got in the group buy of the first batch. It's hard to say for sure, it's such a long thread it'll take all day to read through and see if it was changed at some point. If it works as "only" 64mb that wouldn't matter much :). Although it's pretty unlikely this will ever work at all with such small parts...

For information, I have paid 439.79 €.

Price for each board:

Picasso: 176.75€ / 20 pcs -> 8.8375€ / 1 pc
Thylacine: 107.79€ / 20 pcs -> 5.3895€ / 1 pc
TK60: 113.54€ / 10 pcs -> 11.354€ / 1 pc
Picasso Slot: 41.71€ / 10 pcs -> 4.171 / 1 pc.

We need 20 slot for the Picasso, but, since I have 10 in stock at home, I have ordered only 10.
Like that, the price for each slot will be 2.0855€.

We'll have to add also the entrace taxes.

I'll post a message here as soon as I'll have received the PCBs.

Ah, yes... the color of the PCBs is BLUE!

Onto the Picasso boards, there is something strange. In fact, as you can see onto the picture of the green Picasso PCB, there is a hole (diameter: 13mm) needed to install the graphic board into the A1000 case.
The Picasso that we have received have a hole, but it's too little. We'll have to enlarge the hole.

Some members have asked me for components like memories, xilink, crystal, GPU.
If you are interested, please, post here to express your interest.
Some members are allready interested for a group order for the A500/2000 Picasso graphic board components.
I would like to place the order quickly, so if you're interested, let me know as soon as possible.

I'm going to update the table with columns for components.

For information, you can take a look at the link below. This is the thread for the first batch of GBA expansions. We have made also a group order for some specific components:

It's too late because the PCBs are already produced. But, if sjuswede doesn't answer for the Picasso and the USB PCBs, you can have them.
To use the Picasso board, you'll need the 060 accelerator board, but for this batch, there is no PCB available.

Most parts from the list can be sourced from either Digi-key/Newark(element14) or Mouser for North American users. The only parts I couldn't easily source are the Cirrus Logic GPU GD5434VL and the M514260E-60J DRAM (514260 256K x 16 DRAM). Although the DRAM can be bought from some Chinese suppliers but the quality is suspect. The Cirrus Logic GPU is very old (Early 1990's) and no longer in production.

Mouser is also for the rest of the world... I have bought the most parts needed for my GBA1000 near Mouser... and I live in France.

I think that everyone here know that the GPU is not longer produced. It's not a "Breaking News"! :)

UTSOURCE is serious. We have bought the components for the first batch of GBA1000 near UTSOURCE. No problem.
I have bought some other components for example like the 27C4100 which are now installed into my Amigas...

I'm going to take a simple example. We have bought, always for the first batch, 62 units of the XC95144XL TQFP100.

Unit price for 62 units at Element14 is 7.06€.
Unit price for 62 units at UTSOURCE is 2.97€.

So... for 62 units, if we had bought the XC from Element14, we should have to pay 438.34€, and we have only paid 184.14€ near UTSOURCE... Nothing else to say.

Voilà Voilà...

I have received the quotation from UTSOURCE. You'll find the table below with the components list. The total price is high: $870.64 + $26 for the shipping costs.
We'll have also to pay for the entrance taxes.

The quotation is for GBA1000 PCBs and also the components of the Picasso Matze.

I have to update the table of the first post with price for each of you. I'll ask you to pay me quickly as it's a big global amount to pay.
For example, a member who has ordered the components needed for one of each PCB will have to pay $60.376 + $1.3 (shipping costs)= $61.676 for the components.

I'll send a PM to each of you as soon as I'll have updated the table.

Yes! I have sent a mail to UTSOURCE with the modified list of components. At this time, no answer. If I receive nothing before monday, I'll send a new mail.

The other solution is to modify the order from the link given by UTSOURCE to place the order. I'll see. In that case, I'll send a PM to each of you to ask for payment, and I'll keep in account any difference to the final amount.

Important information about Mini-thylacine board

The USB controller IC reference SH811HS is a very sensible component.
You'll have to manipulate this IC with a grounded wrist strap to avoid any damage when you'll assemble your board.

If your Thylacine would be unstable, USB sticks wouldn't be recognized or your system would be crashed, the USB controller would be certainly the cause.

Due to the sensibility of this component, I'm not sure that I'm going to include it into the group order. Perhaps it would be a good idea that each member order it by himself to limit any risk.

Please, let me know what do you think about this idea.

Thanks a lot.

For me it's just as well to get even the static sensitive component in the batch. I will be using proper precautions when soldering either way, and will be at an ESD safe workstation when doing all assembly. Hopefully most people who work on soldering these kinds of sensitive systems will also try to avoid problems with static electricity.

About the components order, I was on the way to order. Onto UTSOURCE website, when you are on the link of your quotation to order, you always have the possibility to modify the number of each item or to add new ones.
I have decided to order more SL811HS (20 instead of 12) to have some more just in case of issue. As I have modified the order, we have to wait for around 12 hours to receive a new quotation. So tomorrow, the order will be definitely placed!

For information, I have bought fourteen 86 pins connectors for the thylacine. I have paid them 4.72€/unit (+shipping & taxe. I have to see for that).

Hmmm,
I used two ISA connectors desoldered from old PC, I cut them and assembled in 86 pins connector... it works, the only disadvantage is that it is relatively easy to bend pcb - connector made of two is not enough rigid.
But I could try one of yours... please, reserve one for me. Add money to the total amount waiting for payment.

A little message with pictures to show that the packaging is under preparation!
I have to add the SL811HS to those who have ordered it and to program GALs to those who have asked for.
Unfortunately, UTSOURCE didn't pack each of them alone into an anti static bag.
I manipulate all chips with an anti static strap. And finally, I put them into an antistactic bag.

For the SL811HS, you have to know that it's a very sensible IC. gseb, who has also bought this IC from an another electronic seller for 10 times the price of UTSOURCE had some issues with his Thylacines.
He has also tried different soldering technics without any succes.

I have made mine, and I have the same issue as gseb. One the other hand, wali7, who has bought the PCBs and chip from me (first batch) has been succesful, and his Thylacines are working fine.

Normally, there is no error in the table.

For cromwell, as you didn't paid the PCBs, the total amount is the shipping costs added to the PCBs amount (7,7+28.45 or 12.15+28.45).

Because I have read a PM with a strange reaction following the previous post, I want to be clear.
I haven't really made any money with this batch, like with the first one.

The only goal for me was to obtain prices for PCBs and components for a good price.

I have lost a lot of time to organize everything. Unfortunately, I have made an error which has been reported by wali 7, and I want again to thank him very much for his action.

I think that I'll make a third batch because there are already some members who ask for. But, the member who has had this surprising reaction will be automatically excluded.

I want to thank you all other members who have send to me a PM to thank me for my FREE work.

You know, a forum is like in real life. Some know the formulas of politeness and some speak to others as they could speak to minions. No "hello", no "thank you", "no greetings". This has the giving of making me really angry.

Normally paid packages were leaving tomorrow morning. The post office is closed in my village. My wife had to go to 10 kms of the neighboring town imperative to send packets tomorrow morning. I asked her because I know that we just be impatient when waiting for something. The 20 km drive (10 kms and 10 kms to go back, just because she has to return at home!) is done freely, of course. I do not count it. It's like that.
So, packets are going to wait Tuesday morning that the post office of my village is opened.

As I said to him, I could also give back all his money, I'm sure to find somebody else who could be interested with the PCBs and the components...

Mine arrived yesterday - thanks so much. I only hope you had as big a collection of empty shipping boxes as I have :) .
Have cold beer - preferably Belgian - as you've deserved it!

Good news! I'm happy for you. For the shipping boxes, it's not a problem. I get them from a friend of mine who is audioprosthetist.
He receives the prothesis into these boxes, and he keeps them for me. They are strong, and they are free for me and you!
You think that you're going to need another expansions?! :D

I see that you are a true beer lover! It's enough hot here to drink a good (Belgian) cold beer!

My Boards arrived today. Very well packed and in excellent condition. I prefer English and Irish Beers, a recommended Canadian beer is Rickards Red which is very like an Irish beer.

Your package is arrived very quickly! Very goog news! You have now to play with your soldering station!

Ok, Ok, Irish beers are also good! We have some good Irish pubs in France. I live in a region where a lot of English peoples have bought a house, and we have also some good Irish singer like Gerry Carter.
So, a good beer, and some good songs, and everything is perfect! :-)

I've gone some ear ago in Canada, but I don't remember the taste of Canadian beer!

My little wife has sent your package this afternoon. And like all women, she likes to speak... and the postman is a friend.(who have a C64 that I would like to buy... but he doesn't want to sell!) They have jocked... and she has gone without your track number. She will be punished! :D

She is going to return to the post office tomorrow morning to get the track number. I'll send you as soon as she has sent it to me.
