Description:
Furia EC020 is an accelerator card for Amiga600 computers designed by Boris Krizma (Slovak Amiga HW developer) It's equipped with CPU Motorola MC68EC020 clocked at 33MHz and FPU Motorola MC68882/40 MHz with onboard 9.5MB of fast memory. The quick access to the memory makes this little card a real monster, as it makes the Amiga over 10 times faster, than the original Amiga 600.

The card has also ability to map rom into the fast memory, tests with roms 256 kB, 512 kB and also 1024 kB were sucessfull. The card also speedup standard Amiga 600's IDE port. It's PCMCIA friendly as it allows to disable part of fast memory by combination of Amiga + Amiga + Control hold for 3 seconds.

The card is easily controlled by tool furiatune (written by Martin Kuchinka).

Summary:

CPU 68EC020/33 MHz
FPU 68882
9.5MB Fast Memory
Maprom function
PCMCIA friendly

Warranty 24 months

Great card with very fast memory, FPU and boost for IDE. On benchmarks it beats ACAs 620 and even 630.

The best news on your website is this:
The final price will be much lower than currently given.

This is great news since the price given on the website currently is 999,00 zł
I assume that's 999 Zorkmids, and I only have one Zorkmid at present.

Despite of what you can read on the web
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/zorkmid

After the collapse of the Soviet Empire, the Eastern European (...) adopted the Zorkmid as its national currency.
no we are not adopted Zorkmid as national currency.
...and we do not have polar bears walking freely on the streets either.

Looking Good  So will this be a pre-order?

I may think about that when I will have confirmed end user price. This card is a very nice one.

I thought it's better to put higher price first and then lower it than make it low and then increase it.

We have some news about Furia turbo card for A600. We get information from Boris Krizma that the first three cards from preproduction batch have been started successfully. In a short time few more cards will be activated and then whole preproduction batch will be send to betatesters.

We received new information from the Furia EC020 card manufacturer - Lotharek. Test batch of card will be sent to RetroAmi soon. All cards with pre-test batch works, but still have to be undergone extensive testing to make sure that the product will be 100% stable.

We have also received information about the pricing. Card will be probably sell in two versions. Cheaper priced around 429 PLN (about 105€) without FPU and more expensive for about 509 PLN (about 122€) - equipped with FPU. However, prices are not final (but very likely), since they depend largely on the availability of components used in the construction of the card.

Expected to be available in sale at the end of February 2015. Preorder will be announced when we confirm that main batch of cards is in production process.

AFAIK the 020 CPUs never had a build in MMU (you would need a MC68851). The Furia doesnt have MMU only an optional FPU.

@ RetroAmi:

What about the new delivery date?

jack-3d
26th May 2015, 14:32
Sysinfo says MMU N/A.

Edit: Ah before I finished test on my card embedder exaplained it ;o)

Boris (the developer) sent us a message that says new firmware is still beta and it should not be use in cards until it will not be 100% usable.

CrazyBob
29th May 2015, 08:13
What are the differences between this version and previous revisions?
Are the differences functional or speed related?

The reason that I ask is because there have been stable releases before (maybe other revision) and lotharek is also experienced in building complex PCB's.

RetroAmi.com.pl
30th May 2015, 07:07
The main problem is that the parts used in rev1 are not available in large quantities or can'tbe use due to law restrictions. The same happend to memory modules used originally by Boris. Lotharek had to find another memry supplier, but the slight difference in new chip params cause problems and card is unstable.

how serious is that? is that a problem that will take a couple of weeks to fix, or months?

RetroAmi.com.pl

I don't think it's a problem for months, rather for days as Boris is working hard to make firmwere 100% stable (he just put working firmware aftrer couple of hours after he was inform about issue with new ram chips - but not stable).

Let's see if this will be a head-to-head race between the Vampire V2 and the Furia V2
:)

P.S. I meant the delivery date, not the performance :D

jack-3d
2nd June 2015, 09:05
Its not a race. F˙ria EC020 Rev2 is out for quite some time (1 year or maybe more). I have one and its super stable (I use my A600 almost every day). Boboo spent few years developing it and testing it before it went public. But new producer seems NOT to use the identical parts and it complicates the whole situation. There could be various reasons for buying different parts which I dont want to speculate now but it seems it is problem caused by producer not by developer. Problem is that the pressure is on developer :(

If I remember well, there was similar situation with phase5 Cyberstorm MK2, some series had different supplier and wrong parts caused DMA problems (http://amiga.resource.cx/search.pl?id=cyberstorm2).

RetroAmi.com.pl
2nd June 2015, 09:52
Is like jack-3d wrote. There were problems with getting parts from original BOM and that caused a problem with stability.

Due to fact that at the moment we can not get a clear answer to the question when the Fury card will be ready to sell, we decided to cancel a preorder, cancel the orders that were made and return the money to those who have paid. At the time when the card will appear in the regular sales, we will post relevant information on the shop's website and FB.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but the delays were beyond our control.

Please don't misunderstand this question... I'm really not trolling...

Why would someone purchase a 68020 accelerator board when there are 68030 boards with lots of RAM available for the 500, 600 and 1200? Is there something special about the '020 that I don't remember?

jack-3d
4th June 2015, 15:11
Where are these 030 boards available for A600 please? In case you mean secondhand ACA 630 then the F˙ria EC020/33 is faster then ACA 630/25 (7,01 MIPS x 5,97 MIPS) and price would be 2 times less.

dhoelzer
9th June 2015, 01:06
Ahh.. I had thought these were for a 1200..

i received my order yesterday, thanx :)

the only thing is i'm a little worried that it might pop off...

mine did not come with any screws, or any way to secure it to the motherboard... like seen in this picture: http://amigatimes.wz.cz/clanky/furiaec020/furiaec020-corner2.jpg

is it possible to order something like this separately either from you or somewhere else?

or if anyone has any recommendations on a good way to secure it to the motherboard?

other than that, this board is a beast :) i haven't run into any stability problems yet.... really impressive :))

- WHDLoad emulate fix
- Support for WB 3.9

This is one amazing little accelerator at a very low price.

However, there is something I don't understand. Why would it work on the A600 and not on the A500 ?
