View Full Version : ISP provided e-mail addresses

It appears that some new members have been providing web based e-mail addresses (e.g. Hotmail, GMail and Yahoo and so on).

While it is not a major issue, we would like to point out that the site rules ask for an ISP provided e-mail address.

To this end, we are sending the following reminder out to those who have provided what appear to be web based addresses.

Hi,

This is just a gentle reminder being sent to members to remind them that the Amibay site rules ask for an ISP provided e-mail address, to minimise the potential for abuse of the site. It appears that you have provided a web based e-mail address.

If you have an ISP provided e-mail address, would you mind providing it to one of the site admins?

Thanks

Please don't be offended by this note, it is Amibay pro-actively working to protect the members of the site from possible abuse. If you only have a web-based address, please let the Admins know.

Thanks

Update, 11th January 2008:

Following a pr0n spamming from a Google G-Mail account, unfortunately we have had to block G-Mail, to prevent further abuses of the site. Web based e-mail addresses are always likely to present this issue, which is why we prefer ISP supplied e-mail addresses if possible. We relaxed the rules and we were caught out, we are working to resolve this.

If you have been affected by this, please post in the Amibay thread on Oldskool UK and the site Admins at Amibay will work with you to allow your account through.

Zetr0 is planning some site upgrades in the near future to strengthen the site security in order to keep spammers, bots and post wh0res at bay. In the meantime, please bear with us, you security is our prime concern and we wish to maintain a safe site for you all.

Please be aware that ALL future sign-ups will need to supply a verifiable ISP provided e-mail address, there will be few exceptions. If you don't have an ISP provided e-mail address, please use the Amibay thread on OS-UK to contact an Admin as above.
