View Full Version : Broadband solutions for the Dreamcast... ?

Hi guys! Been a while since I started a new thread...

Ive recently booted up the ol' Dreamcast and I'm looking at my copies of Shenmue I and II and thinking how great it would be to get the online features running. So many winning cans...

I hear there are fan based custom servers around and was wondering if anyone knows of any affordable broadband solutions for the little beast other than breaking the bank on trying to source one of the official broadband adaptors? I have heard of some being custom made... Are there any solutions out there that anyone is aware of?

I saw a post a while back on MaxConsole about a DC ODE - basically it was a board that replaces the GD Rom assembly and gives you USB. I wonder if it could be modified in some way to use USB -> ETH or maybe WiFi?

Don't know anything about any game servers - sorry.

You could wait for the MoBand (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?51856-Moband-Adapter-(Dreamcast-Modem-To-Broadband-Replacement)) (Modem/Broadband hybrid).
Or you use your PC as a dial-in server (http://dreamcast.onlineconsoles.com/phpBB2/guides_pcdcwin98.php) (which your Dreamcast is calling), then your PC does the actual internet connection. Different tutorials are on like every Dreamcast scene website.

The Moband is exactly what I had in mind... Potential price may be a concern though. We can't comment on that of course but now I know it's on its way, I can ateast follow it. Thanks! My Dreamcast will be so happy if I get one of these.
