View Full Version : Anyone with an Eprom programmer?

My spare motherboard appears to be dead and I suspect it's down to a corrupt BIOS. It has a removable 8-pin CMOS DIP chip and I'm wondering if anyone is able to re-flash the chip with some kind of Eprom programmer please? I've contacted Biostar to see if they will send a replacement chip, but I'm not sure if they will.

The motherboard is a Biostar TP67XE (Version 5.2).

Just let me know what you want for doing it (if it can be done). Cheers

I'm a bit too far away, but you could send it to me if no-one local answers. I assume you have already tried resetting the BIOS to safe settings with CMOS Clear jumper?

Bryce.

PS. Can you give me the exact part numer that is written on the top of the "BIOS" IC? It will be easier to know which part is needed. But anyway look at this it may help:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-BIOSTAR-HI-FI-H87S3-HI-FI-A85S3-A55MGC-TA75A-G41D-M7-TA55MU3-/171059006909?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item27d3e94dbd.
If they program it for free it may be a good choice. If not depending of the price that the above company wants for programing and IC maybe getting by me or by Bryce this part and programing it for you will be cheaper even with postage. Anyway sending the IC many times all over Europe can be long and costly :D.

Thanks guys! I must have missed that chip on ebay, I suppose it's worth a shot at 9.50 as the TP67XE is still a decent motherboard and is great at overclocking Sandy and Ivy Bridge processors :).

All up and running perfectly after installing a new CMOS chip flashed with the latest BIOS version :). I no longer require the board though so it's up for sale in one of my threads ;)
