View Full Version : GBS-8220. What are the correct names of the two RGB headers on the board?

Hi guys.

Anyone know exactly what the plugs are called on the GBS-8220, the two RGB headers that can be used for the Amiga?

The header lead you normally get with it and also the second option on the board with the bigger pins.

Hopefully I have described that enough? I want to buy a couple unused plugs with the pins and make my own cable up.

Thanks :)

do you need something more specific than what is labeled here?: http://www.jammaboards.com/arcade_manuals/GBS-8220_CGA_to_VGA_HD-Converter.pdf

the one on the left looks like a molex connector, probably a 6 pin female connector with one missing for a key.

the other might be some form of jst connector,8 pin probably a 7s

really need the pin pitch between the centre of the pins on each connector to be sure of a fit though.

Hold on a sec, I'll grab my very near calliper and check. Be right back!! :run:

Ok, the 4 pins on the 5 pin connector have the same pitch as a molex connector, they measure 4.8mm. The 5th pin is 7.2mm away from the nearest pin.

The pitch of the pins on the 8 pin connector is 2.35mm.

Found a picture >>here<< (http://gonbes.en.made-in-china.com/productimage/JqOmYChufjVS-2f1j00yMwQkPadGJcS/China-Cga-au-convertisseur-du-VGA-GBS-8220-.html)

Looks like the 8-way is an H-JSY connector. It's moulded into the plastic

yep,can you measure the pins spacing and thickness on the other connector?

EDIT:just seen your edit,lol

Brilliant guys :D

I would be lost without this forum lol.

I shall hunt and see if I can buy these connectors. I found some old tat, stuff pulled from some dead electronic device years ago and found a harness with the same connectors but they are too long. But they must be standard things.

The pin diameter on the 5 pin is 1.5mm. Just been looking at RGB 4 pin connectors but can't see a spec for them yet. Might have to make that connection up with a 4 pin and single female connector or just singles.

Hi,

The JST-XH 8 way fits the P11 connector. Search ebay for a 7S LiPo balance lead.

the reason i think the 5 pin connector is molex is because im sure it was used on old monitors.

Im slapping my own head at the moment! Sometimes, when an electronic device dies or is just not worth fixing I will sack it for parts if I can be bothered. I have seen the larger 5pin RGB header and lead in something but have forgotten what it was. Typical as always I cannot find the harness with the lead/plug on it .

My Wife thinks I am nuts hoarding things and I have chucked loads out to appease her lol. But I keep wires and things for when I need to make stuff like this GBS setup.

i can understand that,lol

im having a clear out at the moment, trust me i have litrally tons of this type of stuff and my wife got me a load of storage drawers for most of it and its going to take me months to get through it all:)

I think the 5 pin connector is a JST 5P-SVF-V >> Spec-sheet (http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dlmain/Datasheets-16/DSA-305266.pdf) << Slightly different dimensions to those I took off the GBS (it was dark last night!).
