Hello my good friends...

Would anyone have a few spare known working 4464 RAM chips, these are commonly used in the later C64c.

The RAM chips are 64Kx4 therefore in a 64K machine you would find 2 of these beauties.

Bit of a trap for people out there, two different types of 4464 exist.

The first is the 18 pin 4x64k 4464
The second is the 24 pin 8kx8 4464c (early video ram I think)
I've personally seen both.

What you want is the first one, it takes two to form an 8 bit bus worth of 64KB. Not sure why some C64 sites I search think its 32x8 though.

If you can't find any, let me know, I just bought some off the other bay about 10 minutes ago.
 
Co-Incidentally...

2 of these chips will also allow you to upgrade the C128's 80 Column VDG's VRAM from 16K to 64K, simply swap out the 2 4416 chips present and there are no jumpers to change either.

4 ----------- Code for RAM type. 4=DRAM
4 ----------- Bus Width. 1=1bit wide, 4=4bit wide
64 ---------- Capacity. 16=16K, 64=64K

PM your postal address mate, I have 4 (M5M4464P 15ns) of them salvaged from my dead ZX +3.
I am not sure if they are working, but I bet they are, as the problem was mainly a f* up ULA..... no charge for you - even for the p&p....

They will be used to upgrade a 16K CoCoII to 64K :D

you are welcome!!

I would suggest to solder IC sockets on the board, so you if any of the RAM chips is not working you don't have to desolder/resolder again.
