Hi I am looking at a checkmate case as well. I can't decide if to go a500 or 1200. It seems to me the case was built more to suit the 500 with the keyboard cable and keyboard lights ect.

But like you I don't know what I would need to spend to get the a500 to run everything as I have only used my 1200 of late.

Would something like a vampire, make it run every game like a 1200? Are there any other solutions for the a500?

Also if I went a500 is it best to use an a500 + ?

I am afraid I know nothing about the Vampires really, or much about expanding a500s. The only reason I have one is that when I was down to one a1200 I wanted second amiga to put in the summerhouse (mancave) and tried a cheaper option of an a500 and a gotek as I only really wanted a few specific games. however I had real issues with one of those and in the end got fed up and got another a1200......
Yes I think the case is aimed at a500s, which is why I did toy with the idea. I think there is a facebook group you could ask on? or email the guy directly?
Or ask your question about expanding an a500 on here or EAB?

Hi CrazyC, thanks for ordering a case, sadly I cannot continue making these so once all plastics are gone that will be it.
To me, the bast system is an A500 with a Vampire or if you can afford it then the Warp 560. To be honest at 300 euros the Vampire wins, but with prices rising the Warp looks more attractive. I have both and love them both.

Hi Steve, a couple of questions I have been thinking about you might have or have seen answers to:
1) how to use the a1200 LEDs in the keyboard case? (are they the right size just with one too many LEDS)
2) I dont want to have the PCMCIA network card hanging out the side, so far my best plan is to put two 90 degree adapters and bring the card back inside the case (with some support) and then run it to a PCI bracket. Any better suggestions?
3) I have an Indy mk2 with the DVI out daughterboard - what might be the best way to fit that?

Just looked again at a picture of a case and realised that it looks like the power converter board will block my plan for the PCMCIA slot - so may have to give up on that query entirely. Sigh.

For the PCMCIA I bought 2 of the 90 deg angle convertors and wired a rj45 socket the where the keyboard comes in if using a 500 kb, as the for the Keyboard LED I haven't found a way to get them work yet so just put a nice Amiga Badge over it. Just got a Indy MK2, looking to see if I can make up a VGA cable for it then put it out where I removed the RF Modulator. If I can't then probably use an old PC GAME PORT (yellow) PCI bracket as the size is almost the same as DVI and usually has 2 usb ports for rapid road down the road.

It's kind of on hold though as I waiting on AMIGA KIT to send out an order I made back in April .. !! it's contains the CLOCKPORT Expander for the Rapid Road !!

I was going to do that with the pcmcia but in the pics it looked like the a1200 power board blocked that from fitting together?

Re the Indy MK 2 I see someone has produced a 3d pci bracket that has a DVI and USB port, which I was hoping would do for the Indy and SUM USB. Althernatively for the indy Iw as going to convert the DVI to HDMI inside the case and then use what someone has made for the vampire hdmi where the modulator goes.
