Exclamation NEW MEGACHIP PLCC version for A500/2000/CDTV!

    Hello,

Here is my new version of Megachip. This is a PLCC version as you can see onto the pictures.

    With this version:
    - no need to desolder the socket of your Amiga motherboard,
    - no need to solder the Megachip onto the motherboard,
    - no need to solder the wire.

You have just to remove the AGNUS of your Amiga, to insert the Megachip into the AGNUS socket, to connect the mini-clip onto the PIN 36 of GARY, and to change configuration of jumpers onto the Amiga's motherboard.

It can be installed into the Amiga 500, Amiga 2000 & CTDV.

Price: 120€ 140€ (Paypal to friend & family) excluding shipping costs.

The price goes up to 140€ since I paid 53€/unit (shipping included) the new AGNUS instead of 20€ I paid the first lot.
This new amount allows to compensate a part of the price rise of the AGNUS. I take the rest for my expense...

The Megachip is sent assembled, ultrasonic cleaned and tested.

Some members have asked for kit version. I'll take a look for this possibility.

For NTSC AMIGA: I have no NTSC AGNUS in stock. If you are interested, you'll have to provide the AGNUS chip, or you'll have your Megachip as kit to assemble it by yourself.

    Regards,
    Franck

This looks very interesting. One question - does the wire have a spring clip to attach the pin, a riser socket with the wire attached that sits under the chip, or must we solder the wire? If one of the first 2 this would make this perfect for people who can't, or are uncomfortable, solder. The spring clips are super cheap and might be a the easiest solution.

Yes, a mini-clip is soldered at the end of the wire to allow an easy removing of the Megachip for example.
With this solution, the only operations are config modifications of jumpers onto the Amiga motherboard.

I would be very interested, but unfortunately this wont fit in my case.
    I own an A2000 Rev. 6.2 Board with a memory tower (Tokuda-Tower).

As you can see in the pictures below even an icomp ACE2 wont fit.

What is the minimum height necessary so that the pcb of the megachip does not touch the small pcb soldered to the motherboard of your A2000?
The pcb of my megachip is 5 mm above the agnus support.

The total height of the plcc adaptor is 1 cm.

If this is not appropriate, there is the solution of this version of Megachip:
    http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...000-CDTV-30%80

But in that case, it's necessary to desolder the AGNUS socket and to solder the Megachip at its place.

I measured the height of the Tokuda-Tower to 8,65 mm (to the pcb base).

and the height of the AGNUS PLCC socket to 8,2 mm.
