It'll be interesting to see what the next revision board brings!

I'm hoping that someone comes up with a drop in replacement board for the socket to perform this function...that would solve a lot of supply issues!

Again a question from me Are the GALs reliably programmable with a TL866? If not I might need some help as everybody I know has a TL866

I haven't programmed chips with TL866 so I don't know. Some people have reported to been able to program GALs successfully with the latest firmware while others said that they couldn't.

Any tips on getting a voodoo 3 to work with Prometheus?

ive installed the Prometheus drivers and p96 from the Prometheus cd, updated with the Prometheus 2.5 update. My voodoo3 is recognised with PrmScan, and I can attach “Prometheus” board in Picasso96Prefs, but when I try and test a screenmode the machine either hard locks up or the test screen does not show on the voodoo output

Does the Prometheus come with a proper voodoo.card etc? Or is the installation similar as with Mediator, i.e. rename a dfferent monitor, change the tooltype and refer it to the proper videocard.card file? I have no experience yet with Prometheus and would still hope to have the ZZ9000 running instead of a pci videocard.

So you get a “Board” to attach using the Picasso 96 2.0 that comes on the Prometheus cd ISO, and there’s a “Prometheus” option in that p96 installer. In p96prefs you can attach this Board - “Prometheus” and the voodoo does something but not much.

But if you then use the Prometheus 2.5 update (linked by Hese at the top of this page) afterwards (which has much bigger 3dfxvoodoo.chip and Prometheus.card files), the Board disappears in p96prefs.....

im not sure if you have to do the renaming of a monitor driver like cv64/3D like you do for mediator. The Prometheus instructions on the install cd are next to useless.

With the mediator I just installed, with the latest iComp P96, I didn't use the 3dfxvoodoo.chip. Just followed the original "mediator guide" instructions. So the voodoo.card from the mediator CD. Maybe you can try that, just as an alternative test

Maybe check a1k again, it's seems they have the most Prometheus experience. I

This leaves less and less options open for a videocard in the AA3000+

yeah, I think it’s broadly similar to a mediator and p96 install, with .card and .chip files residing in LIBS:Picasso96 and a monitor drivers in DEVS:Monitors and picasso96settings in DEVS:

the monitor driver points to tooltype Prometheus rather than voodoo or Radeon for mediator, and the file it invokes is Prometheus.card which in turn looks for 3dfxvoodoo.chip

So I’ve managed to get the p96prefs test check board screen once with 640x480 256 colours, and a grey screen with red square for mouse pointer on a number of occasions. This was using a combo of the v2.0 and v2.5 Prometheus.library and the 3dfxvoodoo.chip and Prometheus.card files from Picasso96 2.0 and 2.1b....

    basiclally I think I need v3.0 of Prometheus.library but I can’t find it anywhere.

its not helped by the complication that v2.0 Prometheus.library has to be in the Expansion folder, and v2.5 has to live in LIBS:

it would be handy to know exactly what files someone with a working install is using, and in what directories.
