Default A1500 case mods (no I don't care about the case so stop mentioning it :D )

Hello to one and all, it has been a very, very long time since i last posted up a project here, so let's change that

I had an A1500 case with no innards, no Amiga hardware at all and i wanted a dedicated WinUAE machine for daily use, i came up with the plan to house a 1st gen i7 into the Amiga case, here is what i have done so far, i will keep updates coming as i get there.

1st job was to take a grinder and remove the back of the case

then CAD draw a new rear panel which i then had water jet cut from 1mm mild steel.

Not bad at all! I have been following your facebook posts

I have a spare A2000/A1500 case sitting around, undecided what to do with it as yet and I also have some powerful ITX stuff sitting around... ideas forming lol.

Also I noticed you are in Cheltenham, my birth town (still have relatives there).

You cannibal you... HAHAHAaaa Just joking mate, great job done there! It appears you have used a smaller-factor PSU than the normal ATX size? Nevertheless, mighty fine. Your last picture is a bit misleading, showing the optical drive tray popping out, as it appears to be wider than the case side. But it must've been the angle of the camera methinks. Will you be making slices to cover the gaps around the floppy and card reader? I guess so. Nice to have a floppy drive on any UAE machine, i did the same thing for my monstrous A2000 mod, as a floppy disk can carry a single .adf image for retrolicious software loading!

P.S. Looks properly stationed on top of the kitchen appliance, i'm dead-sure the Mrs. has approved.

Most excellent! The wife-factor is a great thing to consider... You should see how mine reacts (or maybe you shouldn't) every time i bring home some cockpit sub-system to work on... The cockpit is stationed in another house, which is currently being renovated, thus i can't do hobby work there.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing this powered-on!
