This is a new V2.0 Switchless Kernal selector PCB. Fits all Commodore 64 models and now also VIC-20!!!

In basic use it replaces the original Kernal. Second Kernal is started by keeping down the Restore-key while turning on the machine. The default Kernal can be selected with a solder bridge or jumper.
Both JiffyDOS and JaffyDOS are provided by default for C64. A jumper is used to select which one is in use.
This PCB can also replace any other ROM on the motherboard (anyROM feature). You can replace the Basic, Kernal or Character ROM. You can replace one ROM or any combination of 1-3 ROMs. Every extra ROM after one requires adding one extra wire. The PCB got jumpers / solder bridge for configuring the socket position.
In the 250469 motherboard the PCB can only be in the Basic/Kernal ROM socket. Character ROM can be replaced with one wire.
In VIC-20 only the Basic & Kernal ROM can be replaced.

First batch for sale. Also on sale elsewhere.

Prices:
- DIY kit 18€ (includes PCB, components, pins, pinheaders, jumpers, 3M DIL-socket, pre-programmed flash IC, wires)
Extras (loose parts):
- 3M PLCC-socket 1€
- solderless wires & IC-hooks 2€ (kind of pointless for a DIY kit)

- Assembled 23€ (includes soldered PCB, 3M DIL-socket, pinheaders, jumpers, wires)
Extras (soldered to PCB):
- 3M PLCC-socket 3€
- solderless wires & IC-hooks 3€

Shipping for one set:
EU 2,65€
Non-EU 3,70€

Payment via PayPal. Normal payment add 0,75€. Family&firends no fee.
Payment via EU bank transfer. No fees.

Both JiffyDOS and JaffyDOS are provided for C64. The price includes an official license worth 8$!
Only JiffyDOS for VIC-20.
Notice your unit may have the original Kernal IC (U4) soldered or placed on an IC-socket. If it is soldered you have to desolder it and solder the supplied IC-socket into place.

Now also for VIC-20. Jumper 1 is for PAL/NTSC. Jumper 2 is for selecting default kernal between original & JiffyDOS.
Picture shows standard installation and two options for replacing both Kernal & BASIC ROMs.

Hey there,

is there a model available for the Vic 20?

In theory the long board version should work with VIC20 if correct ROM images are flashed into the eeprom.
VIC20 got similar restore and reset signals.

Erm, okiez. So do you have the long board version with flashed eeprom available?

I can make one for you but I can't test it since I don't have a VIC-20. But looking at the schematic there should be no problems.
I'll check if the same JiffyDOS image fits both PAL & NTSC. Original kernal is different.

I offered a free PCB and installation to locals so I get it tested. I may have it verified this weekend. The anyROM feature (replace multiple ROMs) works for Kernal and Basic but not for Character ROM.

Great! Please let me know if it all works - I think it might be a different version of JiffyDos for NTSC and Pal, but I could be wrong (has been quite a few years since I installed Jiffy in a Vic).

If it all works please message me - interested in an assembled unit for the Vic 20 (do not require IC hooks etc as I handle a bit of soldering and the unit will be permanent).

Thanks!

1 x assembled JiffyDos for NTSC Vic 20 purchased and paid for. Thankiez. ;)

I’m interested on it, is it still available? Thanks
