Selling "micro PSU" component kits for a redesigned voltage regulator circuit for all 060 cards that use the the LT108x series voltage regulators for generating 3.3V from 5V (like: LT1084-3.3, LT1085-3.3 etc). These kits are a drop in replacement for supplying the 060 CPU with stable 3.3V.

The old regulators are obsolete, getting harder to find and sometimes fail. They also generate much more heat, and less stable voltage than these kits which use modern components.

My measurements show about 50% drop in generated heat both on the surface of the regulator and also on most of the GAL chips (on A3660) compared to using LT1084-3.3 regulators. Also the supply voltage is much more stable and there is overall less noise. According to other tests, especially A3000 owners can benefit from a more stable 060 system using these regulator kits.

You need to send a PM (as per site rules) after you have declared interest. If you don't send a PM, nothing will happen until you do.

Please have a look at my other new Commodore chips/parts listings:

BOM (check pictures above for correct orientation of chip and diodes):

U1: TLV62569
L1: 2.2uH
R1: 10k
R2: 2.21K
C1,C2: 10uF
D1,D2,D3: S1A

Not my design, credit goes to Dennis van Weeren for the excellent work. The sale is for the components and the PCB only, won't be able to provide support. Please note that on some cards you need to mount the kit on the underside of the PCB (watch out for pin orientation, components should face the PCB in this case), or have it on some cables if there is not enough space. The PCB is larger than the original heat sink of the LT1084 so it's only a straight installment to the A3660 cards. But apart from physical constraints it would work with any card that uses the same regulator.

I'm asking 18€ per kit + PP fees + shipping. Shipping 9€ unregistered, tracked 20€ within EU, UK: 24€, Global 27€.

Hi,

these should be usable for Voodoo3 cards as well. They use the 1082-3.3 which usually get quite hot and tend to fail.

Just my 2 cents,
Torsten

Thanks for the update, good to know that the kit has more widespread application than expected :)

Also interested in 2 kits.

Payment received.

Received here, too. Off to the soldering station... Oh, feedback left.

Update: Both kits built and working nicely.
