I have a couple of old working Desktop PC Power Units and have just bought a Spectrum +2a (Black) without a psu.

I have read a few bits on the net about creating a PSU for the +2 using the PC Units. Any advice anyone could give me would be most welcome.

The Spectrum takes 9V so it would be less work to just get an appropriate power supply on-line.

Sorry, I'm an idiot. I see that the +2 and +3 take 5V, 12V and -12V. First two would be easy as they are readily available on any 4-pin molex. I don't know about -12V.

It looks like if I use the wires from the 24 pin that goes to the motherboard, the blue on that is -12v

Check out Mean Well PSUs. Those are capable of supplying the necessary voltages.
