Hey Stachu.
I need more RAM for my 1230-4, how tall a simm module will fit? (I’m away on a work trip and found one online I might buy but unsure if it will fit)

Thanks! :)

PS I always regretted selling you my previous 1230-4 for €135 in 2011, finally I bought another one :)

Am I allowed to ask about this, did you do the trimming yourself? The SIMM looks like it's slightly under the 68030, did you need to remove it to get the RAM in? Is the 68030 removable?

I checked what you said about being under the CPU but as you can see they don’t let the cpu fit flush with the Cpu socket when fitted. You can see stachu100’s allow the cpu to fit flush with its socket. I’ve added pictures of an unmodded Simm in a B1230 below.

I would say stachu’s Simms are trimmed down along the bottom of the simm ie socket side because there is hardly any room at the top near the IC’s, I’m sure theses are the same as the ones I have recently purchased (the numbers match anyway)

If you look at stachu’s pictures you can also see the locating holes on either end of the simm have been made bigger to assist with the modification allowing the simm to clip in.

So what was trimmed, as they was only selling the SIMM, not the card.

Hiya,

So @stachu100, should I need to lift up the CPU before inserting the RAM module?

Thnks

I don't believe so I think its just parallax error we are seeing in his pictures

If you look at my picture with the un-modded simm you can see it impedes the CPU socket, any impediment of the CPU socket will not let the CPU seat properly

I think you are in very safe hands with @stachu100 if he said it fits it will fit
