What's the difference between buffered and unbuffered?

Since I was for a long time wondering what the electrical diff was : the buffered version runs the rgb twice through the 74 chip flipping the signal twice and through that "bosting" the signal strenght since the 74 chip is powered by the rgb ports +5 volt pin.

Pin 23 is used in order to supply the IC

This is necessary for big box Amiga..but not necessary for Amiga 500/600/1200

I am interested in an un-buffered adapter. I'm in the UK. Still have the proper d-sub 23pins then yes?

I also have a question. I have an original commodore RGB to VGA adapter, which I think is buffered. What would happen if I try and use it with A1200?
