Re: Epson HX-20

Wow! I remember those. One of the first "portable" computers. It looks like a full sized 8-bit machine from the 80's with a small LCD screen for a display.

Here is something quite mad. Epson still have the manuals on their site here.

And there is a nice site here with loads of programs for the system.

At the time I really wanted one of those, but they were very expensive. Instead I got one of the much smaller Sharp portable computers. About the size of a pocket calculator and with a full mini qwerty rubber keypad and LCD. I was trying to remember what model it was and looking at the old-computer.com site I think it was the Sharp PC-1251 here, but it might have also been the PC1260. I will have to try and find it. I know I originally stopped using it because the power switch broke and I couldn't repair it, but I'm sure it could be made to work again. It was great at the time and I coded loads of little programs on it while traveling to school on the bus. Now that has to be up there in terms of being a geek!

"Epson HX-20 Inside - Post to the States - Urgently"

I could get away with it :?:

Re: Epson HX-20

< dreams... that SDG seems to have attracted quite a following here, maybe it's the avatar, the daring adventurer, a girl who loves computers, intellegent, the American accent, playing tanks on the sofa... (nooooo, I'm married)

Back to the HX-20..
I have extracted the battery pack and it hasn't leaked, ordered 4 SubC Nimh tabbed batteries (should be NiCad but they are being phased out) so I will be soldering and shrinkwrapping a new battery pack together tomorrow :)

Then to see if she lives..

Re: Epson HX-20

I couldn't resist it... I have taken the motherboard out.

firstly here is the 24 column printer which takes a 6cm wide roll of paper.

SDG is a fantastic sport as well as a great helpful personality, certainly gained everyone's respect rightfully so and it's great she's part of Amibay.

Thanks for all the hardwork mate the piccies make a nice change from Commodore Mobo's

Probably I should have been more precise, being a retro computer site I obviously meant scorched tanks on my A600,...or did I??
