    Hi.
Is that for your bridgeboard? In that case, my advice is to look for a STB Nitro VGA ISA card.
This is the fastest ISA video chipset ever available and the board has 2 MB of RAM for high res.
Some ISA boards can't output in color standard CGA EGA VGA modes on modern LCD screen (they output in shades of grey, even when setup to color mode), as it sometimes happen with my Diamond Speedstar or ATI VGA Fx, but this one is perfect with LCD.
I'm not selling mine of course, i'm using it with my A2386.

Hi Xanxi, thank you for your advice Yes, it is for my A2386. Like you I have found a CX486SRX2 25/50 and works very well. I have made myself ZiptoSimm converter from Aminet and installed a single 8Mb SIMM. I have a Sound Blaster Vibra and SVGA CHIP&TECH but it quite slow
    Windows 95 works quite well

Do you have make 16Mb mod?

    Best regards.

oh, well, I have an A2386, to, working with a 1 MB ET4000 until now, but I would change to a 2 MB ELSA Winner 1000 the next days (but I need the ET4000 for other retro projects, sorry!) ...

I have tested several ISA vgas when I had my GG486slc2 setup... TBH I found no speed increase in anything better than a Cirus Logic 5422 chip (even tried a 5429 ISA based card) and I just assumed the GG ISA bus reaches it's bandwidth with a 5422...
On a areal pc things are different though....

Actually, the STB Nitro is based on the GD5434 chipset.
I have a significant and visible speed increase with it in Doom, Alone in The Dark, etc. 2 MB RAM help too.

I would be interested too in the SIMM adapter. Cosmos wasn't able to build me something like that when he was still talking to me. Have you made the BIOS modification for 16 MB support?

I heard, that the BIOS hack in Aminet for 16 MB in a A2386 is faulty...

Yes, it's possible, can you consider a swap if you find a decent VGA card for me? I have a tested and 100% compatible 8Mb SIMM for you!

I have a GD5428 based but not working and I have lost many time to fix it without fortune and a Trident TVGA8900B based partially died (monitor switch on and display resolution but I have only black screen)

really? I admit after seeing no performance increase with the 5429 and some Tseng vga I gave up benching... the 5434 is a different beast alltogether it seems, good to know!
