Hi,

in this thread I'll describe my Amiga 2000 building process step by step.

I hope it will be interesting story :)

Currently my A2000 looks like on pictures.

Some parts like PSU, front panel, FAST & SCSI are disassembled.

Some parts are missing, for example floppy drive.

For some time I collected parts and now it's time to take all together and make cool classic Amiga 2000 machine :D

First steps to do:
- switchable multikick done
- 2MB CHIP RAM done
- 68010 CPU done
- connect ATX PSU done
- fix pc floppy drive done
- coin battery done

Next steps:
- mount ATX PSU in orginal PSU case
- repair keyboard
- scart cable done

Are you not going to use original parts, keyboard psu etc?

I'm going when I'm fix it.

The keyboard is in poor condition, the PSU was not working well. I prefer not to connect to not fry motherboard. I think about installing ATX PSU in case of original PSU.

ATX PSU with adapter is temporary solution.

Keyboard adapter is for A4000 keyboard (see picture) PS/2 -> DIN.

Multikick is ready.

Switches are mounted on pci plate with d-sub hole for Indivision ECS (in the future).

Where did you get the blank PCB to convert the sop to DIP?

Nice!
Do you have link to know-how guide for Amiga 500 2MB CHIP?

But with the 2Mb mod, the genlocks stop working, don't?

My A2000 is a 1Mb chip Rev6 ECS, Indivision ECS for VGA output, GVP H8+ with2Mb and 9Gb SCSI disk, and A2630 with 4Mb, Genlock, Lancard, Vlab and A2088 (Upgraded to V20 and 7Mhz) bridgeboard.

The Genlock feature is not very used, now for just some fun with a Betamax video some times, but I don't want to lose it because of some nice stories of this computer before it came to my hands :)

Anyway, great machine you are "cooking"

Phew ...

Some time has passed :)

I became a father, I had less time for hobbies and things like that.

But I'm going back to the My Amiga 2000 project:

1.jpg
Unfortunately, I sold 83725B AGNUS. Currently CHIP RAM is extended by MegaCHIP designed by rj1307. Orginal memory chips back to mobo.
Kickstart swapped to 1.3/3.1, working RTC with coin battery.

2.jpg
ISA slots have been expanded for 16bit cards.

3.jpg
Replaced capacitors and some of cosmetic items by superbonio.

It's good to come back to this project: D

Happy New Year!

I bought a front, unfortunately without a label and with an ugly hole.

When ACA500 appeared, I was wondering if and when ACA2000 will appear. Time is up.

Only what you can find on the Internet are photos:

An idea appeared, drop ACA500 into Amiga 2000, finally Amiga 2000 is Amiga 500 with ZORRO slots.

I compared the Amiga 500 side connector with the coprocessor connector in the Amiga 2000 and thought that with a bit of luck it should work.

I designed a prototype, I waited a few weeks to produce, assemble and ... Nothing, does not work...

It does not work, it may not work because I do not know much about electronics, so I asked a person who knows what, Matze from www.a1k.org. Yes, he knows and his advice has helped!

So today we have the option of placing ACA500/+ in Amiga 2000. The first batch has been sent out, unfortunately in some cases the adapter does not work, I gather information all the time. One colleague does not work ACA500. But another Blizzard 1230 works without a problem.

It was finally worth it!

Thank you for the help to superbonio and Matze.

Looks great!

Do you find that you use the multi kick much, or just leave at the higher ROM version?

Since ACA500plus is connected, I don't use kickstart for mobo, everything is done by ACA, it's easier.
For WB I use 3.1 to demos 1.3.
