Hey guys. Thought I would share what I've been up to this past week or so!

I saw some videos of these types of machines, and since I already have a MAME arcade cabinet I thought I might as well add one of these to go with it!

I am however a DIY novice and this hasnt been without some problems, and there is still a long way to go!

Anyway I will keep updating with progress and pictures!

Samsung 40" LCD TV panel removed from case:

Two sheets of 18MM MDF marked up at a shallow angle ready for cutting:

On the second attempt (first try with jigsaw did not go well, second try with circular saw!)

Looking like a cabinet now! If the project fails I could always use it as a coffin lol

Test hanging of TV panel

Couldn't resist plugging an old PC into it and playing some Back to the Future Pinball using the keyboard!

Two flipper buttons fitted!

Well that's all for now, gonna work on the back box next and mount one or two monitors in there, haven't decided lol.

Let me know what you guys think!

Sketched out the parts and started building the Backbox:

Here it is mounted on the cabinet. Also got some 6MM Plexiglass for the playfield.

Drilled holes for ball launch, coin and start buttons. Given it a couple of coats of paint too... Until I can afford legit Williams style pinball legs, these ones stolen from the old desk will have to do!

Attached aluminium mouldings to the edges to hold in the plexiglass surface.

Not visible in the picture but also cut out the back box for the two monitors.

Well it's at a playable stage now! All I'm missing is the front end setup then some interactive LEDs! Is already proving to be very addictive to everyone who tries it!

Would love to know what people think!

Awesome job, always wanting to build one myself, looks to take up a bit of space I could see that being an issue for me.

Thanks!

Indeed I went a little over on the size, but this will allow me to add plenty of LEDs and other bells and whistles at a later time.

The good thing is you can build them to any size really, just use a smaller screen etc.

What are you going to use as a frontend? HyperPin? ;)

Thanks,
Ron

Well I'm a big fan of HyperSpin on my arcade cabinet so would have used HyperPin. However upon searching it appears it has been replaced by PinballX which looks very similar. I'm not sure if it's the same team behind it.

Also will try a few mercury switches for nudge actions.

Right, same here.
I saw a thread somewhere that talked about using a bluetooth adapter and a cheap WiiMote to do that. ;)

Thanks,
Ron

stephenfalken, just come across this thread and that build is simply outstanding, wouldn't fit in my flat but it is still amazing

is it still working?
