Hi all,
I have recently bought a MegAChip here to upgrade my ECS A2000.
I am struggling to lift Agnus (known as Fat Lady on the 2000) with a PLCC tool. I can't seem to get a good grip on both sides at the same time.
Could it have been somehow stuck to the PLCC socket?
Videos I have seen online make it look easy.
What experience have you guys had with this? Any tip?
Thanks!

If the pins are even slightly oxidized, there will be a lot of extra friction. I have used a little isopropyl alcohol or even silicone oil to lubricate the pins in stubborn cases. A couple of drops is enough. Don't use WD40 or other machinery oil type stuff, though - it will make a mess.

As ajk said, electronics contact spray will help (let it sit for a while after treatment), also make sure you have a good quality PLCC removal tool as you still might need quite a lot of force, and I find the cheap the Chinese stuff simple gets bent claws and damages the corners. Make sure the support shoulders (plastic) sit firmly on the edge of the socket. You can also VERY slightly rock while pulling, but not too much else you risk cracking the socket = 2-3 hours of PCB rework for a new socket.
