Amiga CD32 Power Supply - UK Preferred

Why not make your own, is better and more wattage then the max 15w standard Amiga CD32 PSU, when the TF360 comes out it's
best to have a +/- 50w PSU, and the problem is that a very old PSU's (25+ years) can destroy your Amiga CD32, because of old bad caps.

I am going to make my own Amiga CD32 PSU from a MEAN WELL PT-65C, a good quality (with very good quality Rubycon caps) 64W
Switching Power Supply and that has +5 and +12 and -12 (yes i know the CD32 only needs +5 and +12), have almost everything,
i am waiting now for the 4 pin Male DIN Plug Socket Connector, then i have everything, and gone put everything in a Box Enclosure.

For a few pounds I was simply going to Recap the original 17W PSU hence the reason why I'm looking for the lightweight PSU version ;)

When I upgrade my CD32 I could simply place inside the original PSU case a MEAN WELL PT-65C... ETC. That way it will all look very neat and original (y)

Still looking for original CD32 PSU as RobA1200 does not have the lightweight version that I'm looking for in my wanted thread.

Yes i done the same to my Amiga 500 Plus PSU, it stopped working, and just put a Makerele NET-50B in it, but that is not the best PSU you
can buy better buy a MEAN WELL PSU, has good quality Rubycon caps, and the Makerele NET-50B does not have good caps, so i replaced
them with good Rubycon caps, and put it in my old Amiga 500 Plus PSU housing, fitted perfectly, i did took the Makerele NET-50B out of it's
housing, did not use the housing for cooling had it's own heatsinks Luckily, and i also recapped my old 17W Amiga CD32 PSU, was easy.

And do not replace the caps with cheap caps, is NOT a good idea, use First-Tier Japanese Caps, like:

  • Rubycon
  • United Chemi-Con (or Nippon Chemi-Con)
  • Nichicon
  • Sanyo/Suncon
  • Panasonic
  • Hitachi
  • FPCAP or Functional Polymer Capacitor (ex-Fujitsu caps segment, which was bought by Nichicon)
  • ELNA

Naturally I use high temperature rating 105°C long life Low ESR Panasonic caps for my power supplies (y)
