Is anyone aware of such a thing?
The reason I ask is among my favourite computers are ones that are understandable:
-Often 8 bit and made with off the shelf parts
With enough grunt and popularity that surprisingly interesting stuff was done with them
-Maybe the TRS 80 Model 1 is a good example
To get a decently kitted out Model 1 is not something I expect as I live in the UK and these machines are getting very collectable and so expensive, but maybe that's a good thing... Building a Model 1 clone as a home project might be fun and educational...
...having said that I like my education in little bits (lazy) so I'd be more interested in making a pre-existing clone than digging out the schematics and starting from scratch myself. Having said that is there much more to a Model 1 than a Z80 with a bit or RAM, ROM, and some glue logic?
I've been in the mood to make my own machine from scratch for a while but hardware is no good without firmware / software and I just can't be bothered learning to get down 'n dirty with coding ATM.
Thanks
