Hey, it's been a while but putting together a WHDLoad machine, felt wrong not having one in the house tbh.

Didn't get off to the best start, ended up with a dead A1200 (bought untested so it was a gamble) however turned out to have been attempted to be repaired (very badly) in the past.

Putting that behind me I've picked up another A1200 Motherboard to go into the case which is in nice shape. (Thanks Tim)

Got it running after a few hiccups, turns out my old CF cards had been wiped at some point, I was wondering why it wouldn't boot and thought 3 out of 3 CF adapters were faulty! Good to know my Blizzard 1230 works as I've had that a little while and been unable to test until now!

Booted up just fine with my SSD off the A500+/Vampire so I've setup a basic CWB on my 2gb CF while the 8gb CF Images with a full build.

Some pics on the bench...

good to see my spares getting used

I'm doing a bit of a conversion to an A1200 desktop adding a slim DVD drive to it

the case had been damaged by long screws in the front by previous owner so didn't mind cutting the drive bay hole out of the back of it, but not an easy task

I'm sure you did something similar in the past but you had a BPPC & BVision in yours if I remember correctly they may come at a later date mine will just have a Falcon 040 for now.

Cheers guys, feels good to have another project on the go :)

Yeah Tim I had a slot loading DVD drive in an A1200:

Apologies the Images were on my website, I'll have to get them re-uploaded but there's info in the thread about setting up the switch, etc.

I'll leave you with a quick shot of the A1200 hardware before it goes into the case over the weekend:

Thanks mate, good to be tinkering again :)

Just burning a CF with CWB3.9 and WHDload. It's been a while since I did this ha ha.

Spent some time today setting up CWB 3.9 on the 8gb CF card so ready to put into the case once I get the Keyboard Clip, good opportunity to give the case a clean tomorrow :)

All going well so far, could do with an RGB-Scart Lead or better an Indivision AGA MkII lol

You got your keyboard clip or could you just not wait hahahahaha

Piece of card mate lol.

To do:

Keyboard Clip
LED's

Not going to bother with a FDD, might mount something else there, Gotek maybe but I doubt I'd use it, plenty of games on the CF lol

Looking good! It was partly thanks to you that I got back in to real hardware - read your blog for a while! Bought one on here and had it recapped by theCorfiot, and am now enjoying the A1200 as I wanted it in the 90’s - how I ever managed with 2mb RAM...! A good 030 accelerator and a CF card make for a great machine :)

Looks great Steve! You really can't beat real hardware.

What's next? Another crazy A4000 build? ;)

Keyboard clip arrive today, all keys working which is good news!

And also RGB-Scart lead, much better picture, some vertical banding present, maybe needs a re-cap but I'm sure it would look fantastic on a CRT.

Got a FastATA to go in this weekend. Wondering what to do about CDROM as I don't want to cut the case but I want to play my CD32 Games and don't have a CD32 anymore...

Pics to follow at the weekend, might just use a PC CDROM drive and power it off the floppy port, assume the A500 PSU will have enough juice to drive it? I don't have my converted ATX PSU anymore sadly.

Hey Steve, awesome you are back in the scene.

I have a whdload based machine, but can totally recommend a Gotek enabled machine as well. Playing cracked ADFs with trainers/intros etc. adds another dimension to the gaming experience/library. There are many titles that can be enjoyed with a Gotek that you might not see on whdload as well.

I have an A600 with Gotek for this purpose to complement my whdload A1200, and will put a Kickstart switcher in there soon for higher compatiblity with old stuff.

Enjoy whatever you do!

Thanks for kind words mate. I had a Gotek with my A600 before but I never really used it tbh.

I probably wont use the CDROM much either lol.
