Catweasel?

Re: Catweasel?

It depends what you are looking to do with it. It is a much faster controller than the official C= one if you wanted to use high density floppy drives. And it allows you to read and write to many other platform formats if you need to access them. Other than that it would be of limited use for the expense.

Compare that with the PC Catweasel and I think the PC version is a much better investment as it allows the reading and writing of real Amiga disks, plus the ability to connect a real C64 SID chip to play C64 tunes as intended. Plus it adds all the Amiga ports to a PC for the real Amiga feeling in emulation.

Re: Catweasel?

On paper the catweasel is a wonderful proposition.

In reality it is plauged with very poor drivers & support, sadly....

Re: Catweasel?

Too bad the Kylwalda is no more available, the couple will make wonders inside the 1200.

Except the floppy is now a completely obsolete technology.

Re: Catweasel?

The combination of those two definitely made the best solution and I don't know why they didn't just build the Kylwalda functionality directly into the Amiga version of the Catweasel. The ability to use a single PC HD floppy drive, so it boots and functions as a standard Amiga floppy drive, and then as a catweasel controlled drive within Workbench is what everyone using the catweasel would wish for..
