I don't know what makes the Asian Spec special

I used to have a modified Asian spec Megadrive but sold it to an EAB member a while ago. Basically they can run all PAL games and Jap NTSC games (only at 50hz though unless you install a 50/60hz switch)... I'm quite sure they also run US Genesis games too (again at 50hz).

It's basically a region-free PAL megadrive with the cool Japanese style case (y)

EDIT: i've just noticed your Megadrive does not exactly match the one printed on the box (notice the text on the circle around the 16-bit logo)... what is the model number on the actual console as you may have a Japanese one there!

Hey PowerPie, the model on the bottom is 1601-11
Says Made In Japan Mega Drive PAL-I
The text aound the circle states
"AV Intelligent Terminal" on the left side "High Grade Multipurpose Use" on the right.
These two pieces of text are also present on the box (not in the pciture) but on the black MD logo in the top left corner.

Model 1601-11 is definitely the PAL Asian spec megadrive (y) the Jap model would have a model number such as HAA-2510.... The Asian Megadrive will still run all Euro/Jap games at 50hz (PAL mode) and i'm sure it also runs Genesis games too (US Megadrive)

Received, tested and feedback left, Thanks buddy, much appreciated! :D
