Timtheloon's Frankenstein Jap Phat PS3 (Upgrade from 90nm to 40nm RSX by RARETHINGZ)

we are about 1 year away from the PS3 being as retro as the Amiga 500 was when Amibay launched in 2007. time is a crazy thing...

Is the Amiga (Retro community as a whole) becoming less community and more cash grab these days?

All I can say is I'm glad I got my A1200 15 years ago back when you could get refurbs/new-old stock (don't remember which this one was) direct from places like AmigaKit for a couple hundred pounds complete with upgrades, because I don't really think I could afford to get one these days...

    Customs Fees

Yeah I think you might be right on that being EU-wide, I just wasn't sure on the specifics. And I'd forgotten about that new flat fee, urgh. I believe it's proposed to be €2 but it all adds up!

    Customs Fees

The downside with FedEx is they will add their own disbursement fee on top of the original customs charges, which can make them very expensive for small items on the buyer side as there's a minimum flat fee (it's €8 here which can exceed the original customs charges by itself). Certain EU...

    !BEWARE! 3DFX scammer on eBay

Yeah, when you pay F&F you are explicitly waiving all rights to buyer protection, it would have definitely mentioned that on the page when you choose the option. Unless you paid via credit card or something similar where you can perform a seperate chargeback outside of paypal that money is gone.

Post here everytime you get something new!

@fitzsteve the previous ones I had were plain black, but I remember always seeing this model advertised in Commodore Format. It's certainly something, I kinda like it 😅

Post here everytime you get something new!

Picked up a Powerplay Cruiser through a local online seller, everything seemed fine until I noticed the previous owner somehow forced the adjustment collar the wrong way round! The 'loosest' setting sort of works but feels a bit rough but the other 2 settings don't work at all. I've owned a few...

    Found AMOS Books

Good to know I'm on the right track, thanks! I've been an indie PC game developer as a hobby for many years now but I've never worked with Amiga Dev before so it's good to know these will be a help. I know a lot of people say Blitz is the better option but I don't really need a lot of speed for...

    Hi From Los Angeles

Hi and good luck with the project! I lived in LA for about 10 years or so so I can definitely sympathise there, I just ended up straight-up giving up on the retro computing hobby until I came back home fairly recently, everything was just so much scarcer and more of a pain to deal with. Sounds...

    what is going on?

It's not the prices that bother me as such, more the method by which they've become what they are. As has been mentioned in this thread before, it only takes a cursory glance around the listings to see that most of the big prices are being driven by a tiny handful of sellers. You know the guys...
