Only use XP at work which will be upgraded to 8.1soon. Home machines have been xp free since Vista was in beta (not running Vista on any machines now either 7, 8.1 or Linux). Going to build an AROS box out of spare parts as a secondary machine for my A1200 ;)

I thought the ACA500 only worked with 512kb trapdoor RAM to get the 1mb chip. I might give it a try with mine by removing the additional card, with the full 1.5mb it is greyed out in the menu.

That's nearly the same setup as one of my A500's although I have the additional 512kb board with the disable switch. I tend to use my other A500 with the ACA500 as it only has 512kb in the trapdoor and I use the chipram option for 1mb.

I would love to be able to get my two other 1084S's working but am very dubious about opening them up (one had a squeel and went black screen, the other works then trips the power). Nice work in rescuing something that would normally be scrapped :thumbsup:

I haven't used XP on any of my PC's since Vista was in Beta. Win 7 x64 Pro is on my main system and for me is the best version of Windows since 2000. Win 8.1 pro (got for £25) on my netbook which boots straight to desktop and not Metro is ok once you get used to it. My other PC's run...

Bought an A500, 2 x 512KB expansions, 1084S-D2 and 2 boxes of disks the other day. I now have an A500 that has 1MB Chipram when connected to my ACA500 :D

Had the same thing with my C64 & Speccy tapes when me and my ex split-up, was sure they were in the loft but when She handed me two boxes of tapes earlier this year there was only original music/old rave tapes - none of my C64 or Speccy ones :(

Was more into the Hip-Hop/House/Acid House scene of the late eighties which then progressed to Rave - didn't like any of the Hardcore Euro Techno - done my head in!. Some classic tunes came out of the Rave scene, Ragga Twins - Wipe The Needle, Shut Up N Dance - Lambourghini, Johnny L - Hurt...

My 1D4 (AT 3.1) kept crashing with the ACA1231, the 1D1 (C= 3.0) runs perfectly stable with the same ACA card - this obvoiusly could just be pot luck :)

Got my ACA500 delivered yesterday but haven't had time to test it yet, will be intersting to see how my A500 coupled to an ACA1231 compares to my A1200. :)
