Hmm, you are right, they have gotten very hard to find for a decent price! The most likely issue is some of the chips did not survive being removed and re-soldered. I assume you used a heat gun or hot air station to remove them? PS, Hi Dave :D

The Ram you acquired from SIMMS might be EDO* or something similar - I'd just grab some real 514400 DRAM DIP chips, they are usually dirt cheap! *I'm not even sure if Fast Page DRAM ram would be compatible

That looks like 2MB of Toshiba RAM on the AX2000 so Im guessing it's a chip-ram expansion board. EDIT: ok that's the A3000 8372B Agnus so it is a 2mb chip expansion. :cool:

My theory is that it's caused by oils or nicotine etc on the surface of the plastic, it's one reason I use the Vanish products as they have detergents which will dissolve any substances you missed during the cleaning process (i use the dishwasher on low heat and eco mode).

Well put, I suspected this was the case but wasn't 100% sure. I use the expansions from kipper as they are true auto config fast ram.

I'd be very surprised if that board worked with 2 mb chip ram installed. The fast ram expansions I was talking about, that would work, are the CPU based expansions. I doubt there is any harm trying it tho.

Fast ram boards should be fine, only chip ram and trapdoor expansions will be incompatible.

2megs ChipRAM on rev.6a Amiga 500 Motherboard Lucky for me I have the correct spare agnus lying around in my spare Amiga chips box. Ignore the apparent remarking, it's the real deal.

It's not much better here in Australia, 1000's go for well over $xx when they do come up, which isn't often.

Nice, I've been hoping to find a 1000 hx (for the 3.5 "drive) but every time they come up I have no money. :(
