1.0 and 1.3 seem to be almost the same, there's nothing easily spotted, but I assume that if there is a change, it would probably be gayle related since the GAL was removed on most 1.3 boards. 1.5 changes the jumpers for the GAL so that they're closed by default so there's no need to solder...

Only a 3.0 revision of the A3640 will have trouble booting on an A3000, and that's regardless of the chipset.. If you have an early rev DMAC it won't stop the 3000 from booting but you may have problems with the onboard scsi. Upgrade the DMAC & RAMSEY or just install an zorro SCSI or IDE...
