I've tried researching this, but I'm finding conflicting information. Are Amiga computers and monitors as easily available in the US as in Europe, or are they much more scarce (and hence expensive)?

Gotek (USB floppy-disk drive emulator) as an external drive, keeping the internal drive working, and with a drive-selector switch to toggle between DF0 and DF1 to make it possible to boot from the Gotek drive.
This is my favorite way to set up the Amiga 500! :-)
