If you would like to dismantle your old PSU you can easily resoldier the cable with the Amiga connector to the PSU. I can help yoi with that (a little over-the-web how-to only, unfortunatelly). I've done it like that at it works great, you can see it here, on my blog.

Yeah, you are searching for a ZIF socket. They tend to be quite pricy, so if you prefer the cheap way, you can insert your chip into a regular socket and then use it. If anything bad happens - you destroy the socket only.

Unfortunatelly I do not have acces to this particular journal. I'll try to ask some friends, because they work in this field, so maybe they will have acces. At my university for molecular dynamics etc they used SGIs in the '90s AFAIK.

There are various PC cards that were used in labs for data acquisition or controlling stuff - even quite old ones, from the '80s. Some of this cards were for measuring analog data some for digital etc. Was there any equipment like that made for any amiga ever?

512k chipRAM is double the memory of a regular A500, so it is a big fuss to get :D. So you guys have rev.6a mobos - like me, I've got 8372A Agnus, and you? For now I have added 512k RAM on-board to get 1M chip, but I still would like to have operational trapdoor slot to use it with KCS Power...

Which revision of the motherboard do you have? I have rev.6a and added the memory on the motherboard, it works but it makes the trapdoor slot unusable. I've heard that there is a way of using both - 1MB chipRAM onboard and 0,5MB fastRAM in trapdoor expansion.

Yes, as this is a 1MB or 2MB o 512kB module ;). And I still hope for finding anything bigger - 4MB or even 8MB, that would be perfect.
