    Wanted Commodore CDTV II

I think Commodore engineer Beth Richards stated somewhere in the order of 50 (or 64?) were made, but not all of them were in working order. Publically the number of functional units that have surfaced so far is less than 10, iirc. (6 or so sounds about right).

For Sale CDTV 1MB Game save replacement

I am not aware of any CDTV titles that use it. CD Remix II says it does in the documentation, but I have scanned every binary on the CD and none of them contains a "cardmark.device" string, so I'm not sure if it really does use it or whether it's just using the internal bookmark.memory. Do you...

For Sale CDTV 1MB Game save replacement

The only games I know that supported memory card saves back in the day are Sim City and Wrath of the Demon I think. Sim CIty does not use cardmark.device and works fine without it. It just wipes anything you have on that card and saves its progress there, and puts the value 'OK' at the beginning...

    Recommendations for Commodore CDTV

Ah, my bad. :) It should just boot straight off the CF as long as there is no CD or floppy disk inserted. Do you have any spare CF cards that you can try? I have never had success with CD-RW but CD-R has worked just fine on every CDTV player I have owned! The quality of the discs and/or their...

    Recommendations for Commodore CDTV

Nice! There are several ways to connect wires without soldering, you could use heat shrink tubing, or wire nuts (if you can't find an adapter, that is, that would be the cleanest). As far as the TF536 is concerned, I don't really recall it's using the memory block at $E00000, so the...

For Sale CDTV 1MB Game save replacement

If you have verified that the memory at $E00000 is readable and writable (and battery backed), the memory should be able to do anything that a "real" CDTV memory card can do. The memory cards are dead simple SRAM, with just data- and address lines and R/W and chip select lines for the odd and...

    Recommendations for Commodore CDTV

Hi, Congrats on the CDTV score. :) If you don't want to modify it too much, then pretty much the best option is indeed a SD2SCSI type based solution that uses the Expansion port on the back of the player, so you can have a hard disk like solution. You might also want to consider an 8MB Fast...
