FInal addendum: My A1200 motherboard is Commodore 1D, not Escom.

    Sold Amiga HD-DiskDrive

I systematically re-checked the cables, connectors, jumpers, and combinations of the settings, and finally got the drive working as HD when: - connected to DF0: port - jumper in position 1 (setting for DF0:) Under these conditions it works as HD even when another standard DD drive is connected...

Still cannot understand what could be wrong on connecting the drive to DF1: port of A1200.

    Sold Amiga HD-DiskDrive

Well, strictly speaking: the drive works, but just as a DD, not HD.

Yes, that was the way how I connected the drive data cable to DF1: port. However, the power was taken directly from the PSU connectors in my tower.

Well, then I suggest that I send the drive back to the seller he will make it work as HD drive or refund. (Sorry for confusing @livewindarefail with the seller @AmigaDigital).

Photo of the drive PCB. The tiny wires are soldered on both ends. I just wonder, as they are not insulated and lie in contact with the PCB, couldn't they make an undesired electrical contact on their way?

Well, then it seems like a reproducible problem. I also started with connecting it as DF1: and never made it work as HD then. If I knew that, I would have started with DF0: first... I will check the drive PCB.

I believe I did nothing wrong. Just to mention that I have an old power supply in an old computer :-) Never had any problem with that power supply though, even if I connected different turbocards, Indivision AGA or anything else.

Indeed, when I tested the HD drive on DF1: port, my, "normal" DD drive was connected at DF0: In summary, my original setup was two internal DD floppy drives as DF0: and DF1: What I tried to do, was to replace just one of my two original floppy drives with the HD one. Unfortunately, it did not...

    Sold Amiga HD-DiskDrive

I have towerized Amiga 1200. I already had a standard internal Amiga DD floppy drive connected to DF1: port through a cable with reduction to standard internal connector. The power cables to the FD drive go directly from PSU through a standard connector. So I just swapped my DD drive with your...

Now I tested the drive connected to DF0: port, it still behaves the same - not working with HD floppies.

    Sold Amiga HD-DiskDrive

Connected the drive (data and power cables) to DF1: port of A1200 with Kickstart 3.1 and Workbench 3.1, however, I could not make it work as HD drive. If the jumper is in the position 1, it works well as DD drive, i.e., it can read, write and format DD floppies, both Amiga and MS-DOS format...
