First Amiga Mod, fitting a laptop DVD-RW into an A1200

My concern is the motherboard traces to the floppy power socket, can they handle the extra amperage to drive the cd drive and the floppy?

Heads up on sending electronic goods to USA

Had an issue myself recently with exporting an accelerator card and UK wanted to charge a real hefty tax. All worked out in the end. Importing and Exporting has just become a real hassle, more so then it has to be.

Workbench disks on HD formatted HD disks?

I wouldn't recommend using HD Floppies as DD: http://macfaq.org/hardware/media.shtml#Q2.3.3

Did you configure the flashdrive in your PC using WinUAE or in your Amiga?

Are these CF cards suitable for the Amiga?

You may just have to bite the bullet. Stay away from cheap ones especially cheap ones sold on Ebay. Their quality can be quite lacking to say the least.

Are these CF cards suitable for the Amiga?

I've had the best luck with Kingston and SanDisk. But the card reader also plays a major role as well.

    1084S Monitor

For the monitor voltage, wouldn't it be easier to use a step-up transformer to match the voltage the monitor needs? Regarding the LCD on the A1200, adapters do exist for Amiga to VGA< however your LCD will need to be able to handle the Amiga's 15kHz frequency. Or you'll need to get a scandoubler.

Fixing Read Errors on Quantum SCSI HD

When it comes to hard drives though, I tend to have the opinion that when bad sectors start showing up, it may be prudent to replace the drive with a new one.

need nathanieltolberts contact info- hes on his way here from KS without permission to see my pile

Threads like this always depress me, nothing or nobody I can find that specializes in Retro Amiga hardware near WA. The closest thing I can find is RE-PC, but they are doing less and less vintage hardware these days.

Compact Flash cards are no good

I'm running Kingston 16gb card, I tested it both with SFS and PFS, both work like a champ. I should note that I initially had issues with one card reader when building a card. How I build my Compact Flash Cards is I mount them into WinUAE and setup the image in there, setup RDB and partition...

    Browser on Classic Amiga

I use Aweb on myself, and it is very limited and crash prone (to me at least) when trying to handle more modern websites. For my Macintosh Quadra 950 I use iCab, works far better then Aweb for modern websites but not without slowness and "glitchyness".

    HDD water damage

Glad to hear that. Now that you have recovered the data, I recommend disposal of the drive as I wouldn't trust a drive that's been through the washer, especially the drive that you've opened.

    Closed IDE-Fix Express Buffered IDE

I'm looking for an IDE-Fix Express Buffered IDE device. I'd also prefer to have the licensed software as well. It'd also be handy to have a y splitter for the floppy drive power connector to molex. Thanks!
